Wouldn't that still be a manufacturing issue/defect? Cars are not expected to rust that badly in such a short period.

I agree. Out of the 33 months of use, only 10 months the car has been on the coast. If cars start rusting like this, I don't know how long the car will hold its shape. It's not like I'm pressure washing the underbody every week. That happens once in 3 months.
I just got out of a conference call with the service center GM and Tata regional management. After some convincing, they seem to have agreed to cover this under extended warranty for now, but my worries will probably not stop with these fixes. :)
I hate being that guy, but creating some ruckus has finally led to the turbocharger being ordered by the service center. I can now only hope that they do a proper job, otherwise my dream of keeping this car for at least 10 years will remain a dream.
Tata Lexus Motors Nalmuri Service Center (Kolkata) – 40,000 km Service Experience with the Harrier
Hello Team-BHPians,
I wanted to take a moment to share my service experience with Tata Lexus Motors Nalmuri Service Center, Kolkata, after clocking over 40,000 km on my Tata Harrier. Having experienced the ups and downs that come with owning and maintaining a car over this distance, I can confidently say that Lexus Motors has played a big role in keeping things smooth.
Vehicle: Tata Harrier
KM Covered: 40,000+
Service Experience – Honest and Efficient
From the very first service, Lexus Motors has maintained a high level of professionalism. Their staff is approachable, knowledgeable, and always willing to listen. I’ve interacted with the same service advisor for most of my visits, which helps a lot in terms of familiarity and trust.
• Transparency: One of the highlights of my experience has been their transparent approach to service. No hidden charges, no unnecessary upselling. I always receive a clear job card with expected costs before the work begins, and the final bill has never had any surprises.
• Cost: Service costs have been very reasonable so far. Even at the 40,000 km mark, I haven’t felt like I’m paying a premium. They follow Tata’s standard service schedule closely, which keeps things predictable.
• Timeliness: This is where Lexus Motors really shines. Whether it’s a routine service or something more urgent, they have always stuck to the promised timelines. In fact, on a couple of occasions when I had travel plans, they even managed to fast-track the work and hand over the vehicle earlier than expected.
• Upgraded Facility: Recently, the service centre has undergone a noticeable upgrade in line with Tata Motors’ new standards. The waiting lounge is cleaner and more comfortable, the service bays look better organized, and the overall workflow seems much more streamlined. You can tell they’ve invested in improving the customer experience.
What Could Improve?
Not much to complain about, honestly. But if I had to nitpick, the service centre does get quite busy during weekends, so it’s better to book your slot in advance. A mobile app-based service status tracker would also be a welcome addition for better transparency during the service process.
⸻
Final Verdict:
If you’re a Tata owner in or around Kolkata, I’d highly recommend Tata Lexus Motors for both routine maintenance and unexpected repairs. Their commitment to customer satisfaction, timely service, and honest pricing has kept me confident in my Harrier’s upkeep—and looking forward to the next 40,000 km and beyond.

It is good to know that you have had a great after sales experience with Tata. Mine has been OK too so far.
However, the acid test for any ASS is when they encounter issues that are not routine, where they have to use their diagnostic skills and experience. Handling routine services efficiently is something that everyone expects, but sadly many Tata service centers have not been able to deliver even that basic expectation. Hopefully things will improve and they will catchup.

Mr Rajib Bose is the main man at Lexus Nalmuri, and he is a gem of a person. Soft spoken, knowledgeable and values time of customers. We have Nexon BS4 and Tiago BS6 and we do service our cars regualrly there.
Looking for suggestions for 235/65/R17 tyres due for change in my harrier. Most of my drives are on highway only so thinking to stick to HT tyres only. If anyone has changed the tyres recently and can share their experience/recommendation?
Hi everyone,
I'm owner of Harrier XZ Plus Manual Transmission*Feb 2020 manufactured car. It's the first facelift 170bhp model, launched in 2020. Till now, I have completed 1,32,000 km in last 4 yrs. I have done all the services in TASS as per the service recommendations by Tata.
Since last 25,000 km, I'm facing a problem. At 1,05,000 km, the glow plug indicator turned on. The car won't start as soon as engine start button is pressed. After some 30 sec of turning on ignition, the glow plug indicator would turn off and then pressing the engine start button will start the car. So it became like a old diesel engines, where one needed to turn on heater for some time and then switch on the engine.
So I consulted TASS. They diagnosed the problem as failure of one glow plug and changed it. Thereafter that particular problem is completely solved and there wasn't recurrence of above problem.
At the same time, I changed all 4 tyres to Apollo Aptera HT2 as the old tyres were worn out. There is no problem with the new tyres.
However, since then I have noticed significant drop in fuel efficiency of my car. Previously I used to get around 13 kmpl in city and around 17 kmpl on highway. But now I'm hardly getting 10 kmpl in city and 14 kmpl on highway driving. And my driving style has always been very sedate and 100% times in Eco mode only.
I have noticed one more thing. Previous to drop in fuel efficiency, the car used to run in a particular gear without stalling. But now, the car tries to pick up the speed without pressing the accelerator. I mean, if I'm driving in 4th gear and even if I don't press the accelerator, the car will keep on going without stopping, however steep incline there may be.. Unless and until, I press the brakes and decrease the speed, it will not stop. When I press the brakes to decrease the speed, it is as if the car is not allowing the speed to decrease. If I press the brakes and decrease the speed momentarily within downshifting the gear, car will immediately gain the higher speed on its own without pressing the accelerator and settle at little higher speed. The speed will not increase beyond a particular limit for that respective gear, but it won't allow the speed to go down. The speed at which the car settles for 1st gear is around 10 kmph, for 2nd gear 15 to 18 kmph, for 3rd gear 25 to 28 kmph, 4th gear 35 to 40 kmph, 5th gear 45 to 50 kmph and for 6th gear 60 kmph. Whichever gear the car may be, it will keep on going at above speed without pressing accelerator, and however steep the road may be... It even climbs 60 degree incline also without pressing accelerator. This phenomenon is little surprising to me. I'm driving diesel cars since many years. Even this car was not behaving like this upto 1,05,000 km. I informed this to TASS mechanics in regular TASS, they say this is normal. I would have believed them.. but the problem is, this phenomenon coincides with significant drop in fuel efficiency of my car.
What can be the reason?
Thanks in advance.
