Thanks Phoenix for the engineering hidden menu secret! Very informative.
Attached. I see that there is an option to update software. Can we do it ourselves? |
Wanted to provide further update on this issue, which seems to be resolved now:
- Originally I had this typical bluetooth not connecting 1-out-of-10 times issue, not sure what the SW version was.
- MASS upgraded the SW to 1.01.01 and it became worse
- Reached out to them and now he upgraded the SW to 1.01.04 and it is working flawlessly so far.
Does anyone knows upshifting and downshifting speed for Automatic Diesel? Below is what I found in Owners Manual, but doesn't look like AT Diesel follows this:
@vvb8530
That is one beautiful thar you have. Topless version of hard top is kind of kickass. You have great taste.
Very well thought and execution !!!
One question though how did you manage the air conditioning and dust ?
Have noticed many putting metal front bumpers and bars for example in @vvb8530 Thar. Curious about how this would affect the collision sensors and airbag deployment in case of an unfortunate crash. Any thoughts?

It does. Many have this as a secondary vehicle so the running is moderate. One more point, like many other things it also amounts to a
challan as this comes under ambit of modification. So, I'd say do this only if cops are lenient in your city.

My Diesel AT definitely does not shift at the speeds shared by you, sharing the minimum speeds at which it upshifts for me even on extremely light throttle and level ground:
1-2 = 15kmph
2-3 = 30kmph
3-4 = 47kmph
4-5 = 67kmph
5-6 = 89kmph
For downshifting reduce the upshift speed by 4kmph.
On a sidenote, do you get a humming sound from the car once in 4th gear and onwards ?

Thanks Turbolove!
Just wondering why is AT upshifting so different from Manual. For example manual upshifting recommendation for 5-6 is at 67kmph, but AT is doing it at 89 kmph.

I'm going to the Mahindra ASS tomorrow to show my transmission for the humming sound. Will defintely ask about this.

Thanks. Do update us on humming sound resolution as well.

Automatic and Manual have very different gearing. Gearing on Automatic is much taller, quick example 100 in 6th is 1600rpm in Auto and 2100 rpm in Manual. Ratios are same for Petrol and Diesel, Final drive ratio is same in all 4 engine drivetrain combinations.
Loved the number the thar is sporting btw!

Hello Guys!!
|
Wow. I didn't think much of the Thar till now. After looking at yours, I can't stop thinking about it. Please share details of the mods you've made. And an ownership thread, please.

can you hear the noise with windows up as well?
any other cons you can think of?
what brand are these alloys and how much a complete setup costed you? |
Yes road noise is evident on high speeds with the windows up as well, i guess some amount of damping should help though. Tyre and wheel setup total was approximately a little over 2L. Alloys are from a brand called Beast Offroad Wheels.

Thank you for the kind words. The roof was removed for a specific purpose, a wedding so the car was not used much besides that. I have a covered parking that along with a car cover helped in the car not getting too dusty.

The manufacturer claims that their bumper is compatible with the air bag sensors, however to be honest I know i have taken a risk here, even though my usage is primarily within the city but it is still a risk.

Thank you for the appreciation. I will try to take out time to pen down an ownership thread but my list of mods is not very long for now, majorly the wheels and tyres, besides that a seven slot grill from Bimbra and a metal off-road bumper from Prad. Have upgraded the Interiors to a black and orange theme using art leather seats with additional lumbar support and the basic mods like arm rests, etc. Other accessories are mostly Mahindra genuine accessories. Looking to add some good after market aux lights soon, I am not a fan of the flashy after market headlight replacements prefer to keep it a little old school.
