Looks lovely in that shade and convertible top :thumbs up While the hard top has its practical advantages,
this is the "real" jeep look, the convertible soft top! Wishing you many happy and safe miles on the beast. Please keep us posted on your ownership experience, especially when it comes to living with the convertible top!

So he paid Lamborghini money for a Thar and he is going to use it like a Thar itself?! :Shockked:
Thats a true Jeeper there.

Now while this number might seem very high, it isn't unheard of. Infact until recently a number of car showrooms like mahindra and force had close to 600 to 800 kms on the Odo. Force sometimes had 2400 since they had the vehicles driven from pune to dehradun.
You mentioned that the other 2 Thars also had similar readings. Then I think it means that they actually have been driven due to requirement. Remember it's not just the drive from the Railway station to the showroom. It is also from the factory or the stockyard to the originating railway station.
I think it should be explained if you talk to someone senior at the dealership.
Will update shortly regarding 242 kms on the Odo of a new Thar. Got in touch with the Area Sales manager of Kolkata.
But seriously, new Thar owners have to be careful about the Odo reading on their cars.

A quick question to all the owners here who have taken delivery already - any accessories update ? I was informed about the Dark Lord pack for 26k and am not sure I want to get that. |
Here is the full accessory list with pricing attached.

Can you explain why they are corelated? Because, going forward Mohan Motors is also the nearest Service Center from my house.

I checked with Shree Mahindra on VIP road near Kaikhali to see if they are aware of such logistics, they responded 'no'. A Thar being readied for delivery at their premises had an odo read of under 50 kms. |
As per the Mahindra ASM in Kolkata, Shree and Royal had their Thar's delivered by road.

Pray it is not one of the freedom drive Thar's. Sorry, did not mean to spoil the mood. Should be okay, but the dealer ought to give you a justification. You should counter them that the math simply doesn't add up. |
No, VIN suggests that it was manufactured in Oct, 2020 and the Freedom drive happened on 15th August.

I suggest not to accept a car with 240 km in ODO while you are paying full price for a brand new car. For me, anything above 15kms on ODO is simply not acceptable while buying a brand new car. |

Thanks to all your suggestions. I tweeted, raised a complaint and finally got in touch with Davinder Singh, Area Sales Manager of Mahindra, Kolkata. He took a day's time to give me complete details of how the car was delivered.
Some Thars are sent by railways to expedite delivery and mine was sent by train too. When the vehicle was loaded after PDI near Nashik Railway station, it had around 85 kms on the Odo. It was sent to Kalaikunda Station from where it was driven to the Workshop in Kolkata (150 kms).
Post Kalaikunda Station, it was the dealer's choice whether to carry it by trailer or drive it. Some dealers are driving down the vehicles to expedite the process.
So, the figures do add up to around 250 kms. Being satisfied with his reply, I am proceeding to take the delivery.

You have done the due diligence to the best of your abilities. The vehicle is fine, don't bother about it. Congratulations and all the very best.
Do keep us posted on your delivery and initial drive experience.
So just got my Thar delivered to me. Had it delivered home. Has 21 kms on the ODO and showroom is nearly 18 kms from my house.
Going to TD it shortly. Will upload a few pics in the morning.

Guess your due diligence is enough to take the delivery without any hassles. While it is normal to be suspicious of dealer's antics, I think the story here is very much plausible.
Take the delivery with peace of mind and hope you have a wonderful time with your beast.
Keep sharing.
Just a few pictures. I will do a few more as running really short of time.
Took a 20 km run on the thar.
Boy does it attract crowd. I went for my jog and took this to the place I go to and it collected an audience.
I tanked up last night for nearly 3000 rupees.
More Comments later on.

Heartiest congratulations for the beast. Black one has those gangster/ mafia looks to it.
Please can you post the manufacturer month of your beast? The reason is I have probably not seen a diesel AT HT in black being delivered. And as per some HT AT BLACK enters production this month to be delivered from December onwards. As per my general inquiries and observations at-least in Gujarat I feel that LX MT HT D, AX Optional MT CT D and LX AT CT D were the highest produced variants in October. Pretty few deliveries of LX AT HT D.

Thanks.
