Safari wait will be only few weeks at max but there is a price hike from 17th July

Mahindra does not sell many lower models, it's pretty much all AX7-L , they are making the best out of the waiting lists and production is also skewed towards L models or top models for all their vehicles, I would recommend only that trim. Only one friend of mine opted for non-L model as AWD was available in that trim only in the beginning, AWD gets some of the L features but other friends of mine has the L model - it's worth paying extra, you will keep that car for a long time.

Definitely try out the AX7, but it has loads of missing features as compared to Safari XZA+ which is a 1L less costlier variant without ADAS and you would see it more VFM than the XUV700 AX7.

XUV700 AX7 is comparable to Safari XZA+, both are Non-ADAS variants.

XUV AX7 variant does come with ADAS as far as I know. It almost gets everything except the stop-go feature of adaptive cruise control (which is exclusive to AX7L, as it gets EPB and Auto Hold).

Hello all,

I have Safari XZA 7 seater version. My second row seat behind the driver (60%) used to fold away to gain access to 3rd row. But now it doesn't fold away. I complained about the same to the service advisor, but he refuses to accept that it can be folded away. Can someone please post a picture of it being folded?

Thanks.

I stand corrected and you are right.

What AX7 lacks is wireless charging, blind-spot monitoring, 360-degree camera, passive keyless entry, Sony 3D sound system and an electronic parking brake.

Safari XZA+ has all of these except the Sony 3D surround system, instead it has its own JBL 9 speaker system.

Finally got my Safari XZA+ Dark Edition delivered on Friday, have driven about 250 odd KMs till now and its awesome to drive. Loving every bit of it.

Friends,

Am on the lookout for a 6 seater (can be 7 seater too) and want to be upgrading from a Verna Fluidic (I just love it despite its few shortcomings).

There are very limited choices in the market that are practical 6-7 seater and appeal to the heart as well. I am no fan of MPVs and therefore the only choice remains is the SUV segment and boils down to two main contenders that appeal to the heart. XUV700, and New Safari.

XUV700 was test driven and liked by family but the long wait is a big downer. Safari has also become quite refined, although loses out in many areas to XUV 700, but somehow pulls my heart more - perhaps the brand or the more SUVIsh charachter without much drama.

Test drove the automatic variant although I am more of a manual transmission guy. Enjoyed the ease and convenience but missed the control and seamless shifting of gears. Could feel the lag and spikes in engine RPM everytime the gear shifts.

Wanted to test drive manual to see how difficult it can be as I had read many reviews about the heavy clutch.
Honestly, despite coming from a refined sedan I did not find it difficult driving this beast around in the city traffic in its manual avatar either.
However, there was one bit which really felt like a deal breaker for me as far as manual is concerned. Hence the question to the manual owners -

There is a dead pedal but it is as bad as not having one. Firstly the dead pedal is super narrow and secondly (more importantly) there is not enough space between the clutch pedal and the panel on left to freely move my shoe around. Every time I tried, my shoe would scrape on both sides before coming down to the dead pedal. This is really a big issue for me and despite all the bells and whistles, I found the problem in ABC of a manual vehicle.

Is it just me or others also felt same? Honestly, am feeling bad to ditch the vehicle for such a small thing but it is significant. I wonder did no one at Tata test such fundamentals properly?

What do you guys think?

Part 1

Guys, happy to share that I have made a booking for the Safari XZA+ Adventure addition in Orcus White this Sunday.

Before finalizing I did test drive XUV 700 Diesel Manual and Petrol and honestly didn't have anything to complain. However, just liked the Safari a better package over all. I know I am in huge minority.

The big pluses for Safari were the overall space management, 3rd row comfort, sliding middle row ad pretty much all the tech as well that XUV offers. I am really not interested n ADAS anyway, I love my human way of driving and do not see a need for all this for my driving.
XUV700 is beautiful but just a little too flashy and overdone for my taste.
And somewhere the Safari brand had a pull from childhood days - again its a stupid reason but I know its there in my heart.

Part 2

I had to make a booking on 16th as there is a price hike from 17th July. I will be price protected if the vehicle is invoiced before 31st July which I am hopeful.

Key points of booking

I have opted for insurance to be taken from outside
2 years extended warranty at 33 K
Total discount from the listed on road price is only Rs. 38000 by by the dealer. Want to check if this is really what one can expect or there is scope for more? Was in discussion with another dealer also and he was no different

Part 3:

I am selling my 2012 Fluidic Verna and getting good price at Spinny. They say quote is valid for 3 days only but I cannot give the car now until I have another vehicle. Does it make sense to hold car now, and sell it just few days before delivery of Safari. They will do re valuation perhaps. Hope I will get near about same price.

Part 4: This belongs to NCB thread actually but will post here in continuation.

I have a 50% NCB on Verna and I would want to move it to Safari when I am going for insurance on my own. How do I make this happen with Spinny in picture?
Can I ask ICICI Lombard to remove the insurance and pay me back at pro rata, and give me NCB certificate and then apply that to my Safari insurance.
Spinny will reduce the price by 20 k. Insurance valid till 29 March 2024

Sorry for long post, please help.

Sorry for long post, please help.

Guys, no words from anyone? Please do advise on discount part.

Insurance is sorted, ICICI Lombard will take care of moving my current NCB to new Safari.

Congratulations on your new car.

Tell the dealership they will do the insurance, till you are invoiced within July 31st (I doubt if they will be giving you price protection) and once that is secured then shop around the best insurance deal.
Get your current insurance company to issue out your NCB certificate. (Preferably when you have clarity on delivery schedule)

Now the Discount bit.
I got the option of speedy delivery vs discount.
I took the delivery.
Since you are selling your car to spinny, which should be based on best price you can get.
Sorry mate I don't have any information on more discounts.

May the Mighty Safari give you miles of smiles.
All the best.

Honestly, consider yourself lucky because you are getting a discount. Most of us here didn't even hear the word discount during our purchase.

Apart from the discount, at the most you can push the dealer to provide some freebies like mud flaps, scuff plates, number plate frame, which should cost around 5-6K.

Hope this helps and congratulations on the beast, even I own a Orcus white Adv Persona edition Safari and I am loving it every time I drive. Wish you happy miles:thumbs up

Thanks @neofromcapone, @fusionbang for your advice and wishes!!

I am really so so excited to get my hands on this beast and wow looking white Safari in adventure edition!

As for the discount, I understand am not going to get much here but missed out on the 10k tata group employee discount due to insistence on booking on 16th before price. Now just praying its invoiced before 30th. I am hopeful but fingers crossed.

Things have been smooth on selling my Verna. Handing over car to Spinny in 2 days - do not want to take chance with the price they offered. Its really good to miss. Spinny is very professional - appreciate their detailed assessment. I can trust them for buying a used car. I'll surely miss my Verna - a bit sad to let her go!

I have a beater Alto for my run arounds until the Safari lands home.

Just waiting to be part of the Safari club:cool:

Edit: Apologies for missing out on the NCB part. My current Verna has a policy from ICICI Lombard and tata dealer has no issues me taking policy from Safari on my own. I reached out to ICICI Lombard for Safari and they agreed to transfer my 50% NCB basis my sale to Spinny. They have shared a quote for same. Looks good to me.

Hi Rajeev, how is the new update holding up? Have you seen nay new improvements or issues cropping up with the update? Or is it stable without any glitches?

Hi friends,
I would like to if anyone else in this forum has received similar calls.

Yes received a call for the HP pump and software update. Two of my office colleagues got it done. They took about 2-3 hours to work on it. No notable difference, the service guys said some vehicles are facing an issue n for some its just a pulley alignment. Me hoping to get time for it in a day or two.

Sir,
I now own a Safari XZA plus for a little over two months. In my experience so far and knowledge, the second row seat behind the driver does not fold away. The back rest tumbles to make way for a flat boot space. Only the left hand 40% seat folds away to grant access to the third row. Frequently use it as my daughters love the third row for some reason, and thus I am pretty sure about it.

Hi, I got it checked and mine was not having any issues. The check was carried out in less than 3 hours.
Thank you.
