I think new Octavia might be slightly faster than 1.8 (dont expect much difference). But considering new gen top speed is 240kmph compared to 220kmph in 1.8 TSI, it might be more faster in the top end.

Octavia MK3 (1.8 Petrol): 0-100 8.01s; 0-140 14.16s; 0-160 18.38s; 0-200 33.03s; 1/4 mile - 15.72s (Source: Autocar)
Octavia MK3 (Diesel AT): 0-100 9.35s; 0-140 17.55s; 0-160 23.44s; 0-200 48.64s; 1/4 mile - 16.57s (Source: Autocar)
Octavia MK3 (Diesel MT): 0-100 8.6s; 1/4 mile - 16.1s (Source: Autocar)

New Octavia: 0-100 7.8s (Source: Overdrive)

Interesting set of figures. Do you have such figures for the MK6 Jetta Diesel MT?

Only have the 0 to 100 for Jetta: TDI MT - 10.92s and TDI AT - 10.02s (Source: Autocar)

It was a bit strange for me even then - while Octavia TDI MT is faster than AT, in Jetta AT is faster than MT.

Thank you for these figures sir.

But the TDI AT, since owning one, I’ve taken proper measurements of the car’s figures and as far as I can remember the figures of the car were as much, [with one person (driver, no added weight), quarter tank and with better tires (Michelin Pilot Sport 4) and launch control]:

0-100: 8.6 seconds
0-140: 15.6 seconds
0-160: 21.4 seconds
0-180: 27 seconds

However the figures autocar had posted for this car seems very underperforming and might not have been tested in proper and ideal conditions. And the Jetta TDI DSG would be somewhere very close to this but wouldn’t be faster because of the additional 66 kgs weight.

In my understanding, the order of ranking Octavia powertrains w.r.t performance is,

1.4 TSI < 2.0 TDI < 1.8 TSI < 2.0 TSI
Please do correct me if I’m wrong, thank you :)

Yes, these numbers will slightly change based on the conditions, place the test is being done, the weight of passengers / fuel and various parameters.
But I am sure the order of performance will be same like you mentioned at the end.

Sir, according to me these numbers don’t quite make it. Back when our Octavia TDI AT was stock, I had a small shootout with a friend who had a manual TDI, and the DSG came out on top. This might not be the case but I’m just purely telling on what I witnessed. Similarly I believe the Jetta TDI AT is a faster than car than Jetta TDI MT, but could be the other way around too. Only can find out if there’s a shootout between the two :)

Found this cutout under the driver’s seat. Does anyone know what this is for?

Attached a few pics of the cutout below the drivers seat. I don’t see VIN number anywhere here.

Normally, I’d not give a second thought if it was sealed shut but this seems to have been opened intentionally and I’m unable to understand for what reason.

Posting on behalf of a friend:

Anyone facing rattling noise from boot door/boot door lock of Octavia 2021 when the car crosses over rough road or speed breaker? If yes, how was this resolved? The noise is similar to like the boot door is not locked.

I had the same issue. Initially it was mild rattling noise while going over bad roads, but later it became louder and annoying. Took the car to service center.
They sprayed some lubricants on the spring loaded boot lid stopper. Its on both the sides of the boot lid. It has a centre plastic piece that should move in and out. Mine was jammed. After lubrication no rattling sound.

I have seen Skoda service guys working on the same issue with the same solution on two examples. Seems to be a known issue from the factory. However do note, the ones they were working on were Style models, without the electric tail gate.

This boot lid stopper is common for both Style and L&K model.

Always felt Skoda hobbled both the Octavias with inadequate footwear. Both need some lovely Pilot Sport 3/4 in 225/50/16 and 225/50/17 respectively as OEM :D

Fully agree, having upgraded to 225 I could totally feel the difference.
The current L&K is better in that terms - it needs only tyre upgrade, not wheels.

Into the fourth month after booking, and waiting.

Have a query on PPF Vs Ceramic coating.
Previously thought of going for Ceramic coating considering I prefer a Glossy finish.

However, the roads near our place have been full of gravel and stones of late and road condition has become pathetic.
Moreover, the monsoon season here begins by Nov, so I only expect conditions to deteriorate further.

Given this, wanted to know if PPF options also come with Glossy finish ? From whatever I read, it doesn't seem to be the case.
Can ceramic coating protect the body from minute scratches from gravels etc.

What colour you have booked? I see the cars getting delivered in 2 within months.

PPV Vs Ceramic - Both offers a glossy finish IMO. A good quality PPF would give you a great finish and durability. There are many threads on the forum about this.

I've been in Chennai and aware of the notoriousness of the auto drivers in the city, been a victim of such events lol:. My choice would be a PPF.

This happened on Thursday . Car was running fine. Did a total of 5k kms in about 2 months of ownership. Car is at tafe. Seems like a known issue. Both the dealer and the factory have been on top of this so far. Should be back today. Will fill you guys in once I have the car.
