Thank you so much for this dear ram87pune. Since it would be our first purchase from an Indian Auto Manufacturer, i.e., Mahindra, we were a bit sceptical. |
If it helps. I am driving a Mahindra vehicle for last 15 years. History suggest that there may be niggles. However, should be rectified pretty quickly. My suggestion would be to build good rapport with service center managers once you have your vehicle. If you are planning to own vehicle for 8-10 years or more, Mahindra is a very good choice. All said, the sheer longevity of foreign makers are always in question if you see examples of ford and chevy in the recent past. And, it is not that you don't get niggles in big names. I got in one of the iconic German brands few years back. Key is after sales service and its responsiveness.

So I got unlucky and my delivery has been confirmed to be on 7th of December, 2021. Despite booking late, telling the dealer to put my name at the last if possible, not calling up the SA, not calling up he!pline etc. - I'm getting the car in just 2 months. Don't know whether to be ecstatic or sad considering the insider leaks that Ram87pune has posted. Those who've bought Mahindra's before and other members, can you please advise whether I should go ahead with the purchase? Thank you |

Please note that the date format in the SMS is mm/dd/yyyy but in the email, it is dd/mm/yyyy. This was confirmed after a person got sms with the date 01/31/2022. |
The date format thing seems plausible. But other members have received SMS for delivery in dd/mm/yyyy format. Maybe with the year they are changing the format also :)

I am fingers crossed about the speakers on AX7. While the published spec doesn't add any change in speakers between AX5 and AX7, 360° view on Mahindra site still shows Sony speakers without roof mount ones; but with Woofer. This has stayed after they doing other fixes in the 360° view. |
It was the 360 view that had prompted me to check with them. I pointed this out to their support but they had no clue, hence the statement that their customer care is a bit lost in there!
By the way even my SA had told the same thing as you about getting Sony for AX7!
XUV700 deliveries to begin today.

Came across something interesting regarding the OTF22A numbering system.
I booked mine online 7th at 10:30am, basically the minute website started working and got OTF22A00190X but someone I found on Twitter booked theirs on 13th Oct and got OTF22A00081X.
Don't know what's going on with Mahindra's ordering system, there is no transparency at all. People who booked within 30mins (actually 2 mins really as systems were down) are not in the first 14k. :Frustrati

Seeing (only) a couple of members post that they’ve got a delivery date for their AX7 L Diesel AT AWD, after booking on 07 & 08 Oct dates, as I have (07 Oct), and not seeing a confirmation within first 14k deliveries, I only hope and wish Mahindra has ensured their consultant company’s algorithm is designed to be fair.
While delays due to supply chain issues can be accommodated, unfair deliveries will give a sour experience for the customers (not to mention, also feelings of anger and betrayal). While I’m not in a hurry to get the vehicle in 2021, I’m definitely wanting a fair delivery system for everyone.
Mahindra delivers the first-ever personalized XUV700 to Gold Medalist Sumit Antil, who made the whole nation proud at Tokyo Paralympics.

My guess is that the consulting company's algorithm is designed purely to maximize profits for Mahindra. The algorithm would probably go like this
- Calculate the profit margin of each variant
- Arrange variants in descending order of profit margin so that the most profitable are prioritised on top
- Strike out variants where parts/components are not available readily
- Bring up on the production priority list, the variants for which excess inventory of parts are lying around.
- Send production plan to factory to make the most profitable variants possible, based on above
- Within each variant, for all bookings done for that variant, sort bookings such that the bookings done on the the 8th at higher prices supercede the bookings done at lower price on the 7th
- Allocate units from variant-wise delivery schedule from factory, to each booking, working their way down from top
So, if you booked a variant with a fat profit margin for M&M at higher prices on 8th, you get your car first. Those who booked cheap variants that are not profitable for M&M, like MX and AX3, that too on the 7th, thinking they got a steal, better be ready to wait till 2023 then give up hope and move to the Scorpio waitlist:)
Finally received a call from the dealer (NBS International Andheri, Mumbai) confirming the delivery date for my vehicle shared by Mahindra (9th Nov 2021). The only thing he mentioned however is that the vehicle will arrive at the dealer stockyard by 7th Nov and the registration formalities, invoicing will take a week's time. Hence, the actual delivery date will be 16/17th Nov. Asked him about negotiating on insurance/accessories, he said they will get in touch after the Diwali days.
Since I'm not opting for any financing options, hoping there are no further delays.
Variant: AX7 Petrol AT (Everest White).

This has been the biggest travesty by Mahindra for buyers like me who wanted a AX5 Pet AT. Not only are they not providing a armrest in the 5 str version, they also deliberately did not provide a 7 str option for those who would have paid extra just for the armrest and 60:40 split:Frustrati.
Is an armrest even a feature in such an expensive car, what next? Roll down windows !? Seems Mahindra think they are selling a Bolerolol:

My case is the same, booked an MX petrol on 7th and am not on first 14K delivery list whereas the ones who booked an AX7 on 8th are getting delivery before us. Seems Mahindra manufactured AX7 petrol models first and planned manufacture MX models based on received order. Overall the algorithm looks like a complete sham! Too bad for customers  |
To be fair, I booked an AX7L Petrol on Oct 7th via a dealer and I don't have any delivery date either. So I don't think it's just MX variants that got the short end of the stick.

Bro,
Couple of days later got confirmation from Mahindra and the pleasant surprise on the price protection from Oct-7th. Not able to apply any logic how this worked in my favor but will sure take it. |
M&M had sent the list of all such cases to the respective dealers and people got a follow-up call in the evening of Seventh. What I heard (at my dealer) is that M&M had given the dealers four days time to push through such bookings with price protection. Though the dealers initially did not make any such commitment to the customers, but people got the price protection message from M&M later.
I have already mentioned this in an earlier post.
Lately, this review thread is losing its relevance and becoming a buying/delivery status thread. Can the mods move these posts to an appropriate buying/delivery thread just to maintain the relevance. Just a humble request. Thanks in advance.

Quite bold guesses these, based on nothing but imagination.
If everyone who booked on 8th gets delivery before those who booked on 7th (for the same variant), won't people find out? Mahindra can even be dragged to court then.
Also, does the company gain that much by delivering the low priced vehicles later? Those have to be delivered anyway, now or later.
