This is a red flag if i've ever seen one. Unless there is a direct proof of it through the adrenox app, I would take it to be unauthorized use of your vehicle either for a short test drive or a joy ride because of the variant, yours being an AWD which is very uncommon to XUV buyers. You need to ask some serious questions to the dealership in my honest opinion.

I'm now suspecting that the stockyard manager must have driven it or must have allowed someone to take it out on a joyride. But again, this is pure speculation on my part.
Regarding the other cars, I checked and the highest was 96kms on the ODO, while another read 43kms on the ODO. So I don't know what to make of it.
|
Hopefully that is not the case but one can't refrain from making such assumptions, because as per you, one car had 96kms and the other had 43 kms. I would take 43 kms to be on the appropriate side, given the testing at factory and the distance between stockyard and dealership, however, 96 km is still on the higher side. I have taken delivery of few of our vehicles, with the highest being 40-50 kms. 130 kms just doesn't make sense for simple factory runs and stockyard to dealership runs.
Quote:
This has got me thinking -
1. Were the 130 kms, the total accumulated from the testing at the factory as well as the drive from the stockyard to the dealership? I remeber reading a similar post on this thread a while back that while checking in the stockyard, the ODO reading was high but during delivery day, after updates and all, the ODO reading was reset to 0? Can any BHPians help in this regard?
2. However, why does only my car have 130kms on the ODO and not others? Was my car tested more? I doubt that. Maybe it's a combination of testing at the factory as well as some creative testing by the stockyard people.
|
- To be honest, any resetting of the Odo would make me more nervous as to how many times it could be reset and how many times it would've been reset before the delivery. I've personally never heard of such a case by any dealership unless there is a foul play involved.
- As per you only, the car has not yet been flashed with updates so multiple trips back and forth from the dealership to the stockyard and vice-versa doesn't make sense. The difference between other cars and yours is almost 3 times, the other being 43km and yours 130. Very fishy.
Wade, what I would simply suggest is you make certain inquiries relating to this including any reasonable and probable cause to this, given it's only 8 kms between the stockyard and dealership. If you do make a leap of faith after other things are in order, I would advise you not to worry about it as it would only ultimately spoil your ownership experience. But make sure to ask questions and get answers first.

You can check that. |
Yes, exactly. For my XUV 7OO, at the time of PDI the odo was at 90 odd. At the time of taking delivery it was probably reset and showed 15. Post delivery I checked the older trip details via the adrenox app and it showed some driving around the manufacturing plant. Possibly some kind of test runs is what was told to me. So IMO nothing much to worry here. You can ask the SA to activate adrenox and check the trip details (if they agree).

This right here is a red flag according to me . . . I'd certainly find it strange if there is a process that resets the Odo to 0. I think in most cases the Odo will be some >0 number during delivery. |
Hiya Krishna, will definitely update on the Odo reading after the updates have been flashed to the system. On a side note, I talked to the Sales Executive again and he said that the odo won't reset. It'll be the same. So my theory goes out the window :coldsweat

You can find out the trip details through Adrenox. Felow BHPian Shai100 posted earlier on this. However, 130 km will cover the distance in the plant and all the other movements, it looks ok to me. Please check if find any other issues. |
Thank you. Will be checking the details thoroughly tomorrow.

What is the explanation dealer is giving for the 130 Km ODO? I guess XUV will have multiple possible trip meters and the time car being used. Please check that also and see it correlates with ODO reading. |
Thank you, I will check the Odo reading properly tomorrow. Regarding the explanation, its the same as my line of thinking - testing at Mahindra. But, I'm looking to let that slide and just enjoy the car since everything seems to be in order - aside from the Odo reading.

. . .130 Km is a bit unusual from the distance between the stockyard and the showroom that you have mentioned in your posts . . . The best thing to do is to check once AdrenoX KYC is done. You will be able to see where and how fast the car was driven. Mine had done a majority of its running inside the Factory Test track and from Factory to its Stockyard in Pune. |
Thank you, and yes, that's the plan. AdrenoX would be activated tomorrow as per Sales Executive (fingers crossed) and I would be able to check the details thoroughly and correlate with what they have said.

Sure, I can share them right now. It's 85,000 rupees (discounted), and the ceramic coating on glass parts, alloys, and interior is complimentary.

Yes that's the plan. First thing tomorrow, once the AdrenoX is activated, will check the details.

Yes, that was exactly my thoughts. 130kms seems too high for what is essentially a brand new undelivered car. My suspicions on the stockyard people testing out the AWD variant on open roads is getting stronger. They must have driven it quite a ways. I should have driven to the city the day it reached because in the three days that it was at the stockyard, there was ample chance for people to see it and drive it :Frustrati

Regarding the points:
- I asked the Sales Executive regarding reseting of the odo after software updates. He assured me that it isn't the case and the odo reading would stay the same.
- Regarding the second point, yes, it's very fishy because if they brought it to the dealership for updates that was understandable but 130kms is halfway from my town to the city. Made me really sad when I saw the odo reading. Didn't expect to see that.

Thank you Moto_Bear. I did ask for clarification from the dealer regarding this, but they told me that it might be due to testing at the factory. Of course, that's a load of bull, but now that the car has been driven that much, I don't know what to do. I took a leap of faith and paid the full amount of Rs. 23, 88, 886 (including TDS and Insurance - registration would be in my district). A short test drive and personal PDI using the TeamBHP checklist yeilded no negatives other than the high odo reading. With a heavy heart, I agreed to take the car since if I cancel, I might have to wait another year or two. Will be going for PPF tomorrow and hopefully they'll be able to get rid of some of the scratches and swirl marks on the car. The centre console inside the car also looks scuffed up (probably the work of an overzealous employee who tried to clean it using plain cloth while there was dust on it).
My apologies to everyone for the late replies and my heartiest thanks to each and every one who took the time to respond. Makes me feel happy to be part of this community. Will post pictures of Godot after PPF is done. Fingers crossed that the stockyard people didn't try to do any "offroading" with it and that all the mechanicals are fine. Looking to put this incident behind me and enjoy the car to the fullest.
Congrats Wade on your delivery. Can you tell us the manufacturing month of the vehicle by decoding the VIN?
About the ODO, I hope it turns out they have been doing the tests in their facility. And even if it turns out the dealership went in a joyride, just don't think too much about it as 100km isn't a big deal as long as everything looks and feels prestine. But make sure to file a complaint with Mahindra management about it if it turns out to be true after checking the Adrenox location logs.

Thank you Tanmay. I didn't get the time to check the VIN but I'll be sure to decode it tomorrow and let you know. Regarding the odo, I'm hoping as well that the reading is due to the tests performed as well as the car being driven from the stockyard to the dealership. Will definitely raise a complaint if there was instance of joyriding because it would help other customers not face the same predicament.
Regarding the PPF, I'm planning to get it done at Detailing Bull. They've been very helpful and accomodating thus far. Hope it all goes smoothly. Fingers crossed.

That's a bummer. I was planning to order the rear guard from m2all as well but I guess I'll be better off waiting for the dealership to bring the same. I did place an order with them as well regarding the rear bumper guard.
P.S. - Also, attaching a few pictures of my XUV700 :Cheering:
I did online booking on 08/10/21 for AX5 DAT 5 seater variant.Today got a message from mahindra saying due to changes in production schedule delivery of xuv 700 is revised and expected between 23/03/22 & 08/04/22.When i checked track my booking it has moved from booking to production.Do any of the owners have idea regarding how long will it take from production to delivery..
Thanks n advance.
I want to know if it's possible to get rid of the DPF by removing the filter or any other workaround. Also, I heard a lot about driving at a particular speed for a certain time on a highway on the XUV 700. Just curious to know..

I would ask questions to dealer and to Mahindra at
customercare@mahindra.com once you take the car. Escalting also helps them to understand that this person knows where it hurts so better do our job and will also help you during your next service visits. Mahindra should know if there is any foul play. They are doing a good job but dealers are letting them down. With growing trend on making YouTube videos and yours being AWD, I doubt someone would have made video or tried their hands on. I hope I am wrong and it's just extra testing being done by Mahindra for AWD.
Congratulations!

It almost took a 25 days from the day I saw the update of vehicle in production. In my experience, your dealer knows the correct date. They don't bother or care what is it showing online and would tell you the correct date.

congrats man.Everytime I see a new shining XUV 700, my heart just go WOW.Waiting for my beauty.
P.S. in second pic, it's almost kissing the pole behind :Shockked:
PDI experience
Yesterday, I used PDI checklist from TBHP for my new AX7L D AT. Sharing my observations
1. Confirmed VIN shared earlier. It’s indeed a January 2022 manufactured vehicle.
2. Odometer read 50km
3. On starting, music started playing loudly. Salesperson confirmed the software has to be updated to the latest version
4. Opted for basic accessories- mud flap, 7D mats
5. Had an interesting conversation on coating. Salesperson suggested going for Teflon coating. He told me about a customer who insisted on PPF, spent 70k and after a month paint came off from some part.
6. Insurance negotiated at 67k
7. Mileage was showing 9.9 on MID, salesperson said the vehicle is kept idling during testing
Delivery is planned for tomorrow (Sunday)
Requesting others taking delivery to share their experience
The KYC was done surprisingly fast today. Have been using the AdrenoX app since the morning. The first thing I did was to try and check previous trip details but they're not available :uncontrol I guess I should have asked them to check using a laptop connected to the OBD port. Anyway, aside from that, tested each and every function of the car through the app and it all worked flawlessly. Tried using the app both on my iPhone and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and it worked beautifully without any hiccups.
There was an issue with Alexa not working despite the car's software having been updated to the latest version (7.0.11 or something) and the eSIM has also been activated. However, the service techs got on it and its now resolved thankfully. Now, the car is fully prepped and ready to be taken for PPF - insurance papers at the ready, with the exception of Fastag since the car is running on temp registration. No other option but to pay fines while passing through the four or five tolls on the highway.

You can absolutely get Fastag without the registration number. I got mine like that, just with chassis number.
The chassis number was given again in place of the registration number.
Once you get the final reg number, you can raise a ticket on Fastag website and have that updated. The resolution is very fast and I got mine corrected in a day or two without any followups.
I'd say get the Fastag. Why pay the fine??
