I use it a lot on divided highways. I stay in Pune and have to go through these many times. It's sad my dad's previous car didn't have it and it's become so much more comfortable to drive now. Even on Mumbai Pune express way I have used it. Sure everytime you break, you need to press res button, but that's fine than pressing that accelerator pedal all time !
CC has made my life a lot easier now.

Well I meant its irritating when you have to do it every 5-10 seconds. :coldsweat
Actually the problem really is that I have just been able to use it well on Mumbai-pune expressway and some stretches in Gujarat. And even then throughout there's always this thought that incessantly comes to the mind that what if something comes up out of nowhere and since I am so complacent that I won't be able to react timely. Using cruise control infact gives me jitters. Thats where ADAS will give peace of mind. :Cheering:

- New logo is to highlight the refocus on SUVs, the brand essence.
- The new logo brings back the twin M theme from the original logo.
- Wanted a symmetrical logo as it remains true even when seen in a rear view mirror.
- Had to make sure projections in the 3D logo will not cause harm in a collision and it is with in the safety regulations.
- Removed the Mahindra word mark to visually clean the tail area.
- The outward lines of the grille are set to compliment the logo's shape.
- The bezel on the tailgate serves as a mounting for the logo as well as the boot handle.
- About usage of plastic in tailgate, plastic gives some freedom with the shapes.
- Management wanted final production model to look true to original concept.
- XUV700 branding was done by the in-house design team.
- Mahindra owned Pininfarina is invited to partner in design projects.
- In future projects most excited to work on Born electric range.

Here's a little perspective, this could be a little off-topic, but nonetheless, related to the pricing of the XUV 700.
If Mahindra has planned to sell the MX version for Rs. 12,00,000, then their cost of product is as hereunder.
----------Cost of Car: 6,24,000/-
GST & Cess @ 48%: 5,76,000/-
Ex Showroom Price: 12,00,000/-
Remember that this cost includes manufacturer margin and dealer margin of 3.75% (Rs.23,400) and possible logistics charges, so the actual cost of production is way below 6L before taxes.
Registration, Road Tax, Insurance etc. is over and above this.
Here's a further breakdown of the taxation model for various classifications

28% + 3% Cess-------Sub 4 Meter Diesel Cars with Engine < 1.5 Litre

28% + 20% Cess------Sedan and SUV Cars above 4 Meter Cars with Engine > 2 Litre and Laden* GC< 170 mm
28% + 22% Cess------SUV Cars above 4 Meter Cars with Laden Ground Clearance > 170 mm

I really think a brand new logo on a completely new car was not required. It would have really been helpful in the 2nd gen where it would also have been a differentiating factor from the 1st gen iteration.

I am bit surprised to know that he got to design the logo himself, who had just joined the company barely couple of months ago. Normally, logo design is a specialised job commissioned to brand agencies and not by car designers.
While I kind of OK the new logo compared to the old one, it could have been much better. Most of the people seem to be associating it with a butterfly and not 'twin peaks' as it intended to be.
Mounts for the logo, both in the front and back could have been better integrated with the overall design.
I don't buy the theory of going for the plastic hatch because of 'sharper' design. Whatever they have can be certainly achieved with metal or combination of metal (for the main panel) and plastic (for the top protruding part)
Saw a camouflaged test mule XUV700 in Whitefield near ITPL.
Looks like the rear door pop-out handle is broken - the first thing one would see while approaching the car could spoil the first impressions!

The calculation is incorrect. Assuming 50% tax rate (to show easier calculation), the cost to Mahindra is 8L and GST/Cess is 50% of that, which is 4L, bringing the total to 12L

Had a chance to take XUV 700 for a quick spin today. Some observations
1. Car sure has presence. I saw the car, parked mine and walked straight to it. Looks better in person.
2. The car was driven by a Mahindra employee (Platform Head) who lives in our apartment. One hell of a car guy and a key person behind the project it seems. The passion surrounding this product is evident. We had a good 15-20 min test drive + car talk. I didn't get his permission to use his name so not posting it here. We talked about everything from the new test track to tailgate plastic to open sunroof voice command and from all cars from hector to harrier to xuv700. Like a mini team bhp meet !!
3. It is a petrol variant. Automatic. Looks like top end. It was a breeze to drive. It is very tight.
4. The sony surround audio is cool. Usually these settings are hidden in our normal systems and here the visual representation was cool. 12 speakers. Turns into true party mode.
5. The extended display area will be a huge hit. It is a poor mans BENZ kind of experience for sure.
6. Seats were comfortable. Forgot to sit in the 2nd and 3rd row.
Overall i think Mahindra has a winner. Congrats to the team.

The calculation needs correction.
GST of 48% is applied to the Ex-factory price of the car. Say the Ex-factory price of the XUV700 MX version is 8 lakhs, then the GST of 48% would amount to 3.84 lakhs. Add another 16000 for dealer margin/logistic charges. This brings the Ex-showroom price to 12 lakhs.
So while searching about this GST compensation cess, I came to know that it will be applicable till 1st July 2022. Thereafter it might be done away with completely or reduced. The compensation cess was introduced when GST Act came into force as compensation to state governments due to change in Act. The prices might reduce significantly if this happens. So people getting 1 year waiting period might actually be rewarded for being patient enough. rl:

The calculation for GST amount would be 1200000*48/148 = Rs 389200/-
So probably Factory price should be Rs 810800/-
Considering post 1st July
IF compensation cess is done away with, the ex showroom price would be-
810800 + (810800*0.28) = Rs 1038000/- !! :Cheering:

Hey Dev, did you have a look at the fuel efficiency in the MID ? Did you guys discuss the estimated FE we can expect?

This is the DARK BLUE. Here is a better picture. The earlier one was selfie camera and sky was gloomy so it was not clear.
