I am not sure about this Autocar tech spec screenshot as I am attaching this screen grab from the official launch video which clearly tells that skyroof is there for AX5 variants though it doesn't clarify about ACC.

I hope this is not true! The Auto transmission is only in the AX7 variant! Not sure about AWD

Customers opting for the AX5 variant of the new Mahindra XUV700 will be able to choose from a seating capacity of five and seven occupants, with a manual transmission being the sole gearbox option. The AX7 variant of the SUV will only get the option of a seven-seat option, while transmission options will include a manual unit as well as an automatic unit.
I believe that absence of an AT on the AX5 trim as mentioned in the website is a typo. This is because the teaser videos on youtube explicitly mention the different torque figures for the different transmission options. Either the video has an error or the website has. All we can do is wait and watch and take all speculations with a pinch of salt.

Lately i have noticed many youtube channels (including prominent ones) try to test the top speed in that Mahindra Test Track. I havent seen any breach the 200kmph yet. But, i am afraid we will see many new XUV700s breach that number on public roads especially on the long good ones.
Now this could be a potential disaster for loss of life, limb, property and more atrocious youtube coverage of “Accident at 200kmph-airbags did not deploy” or “ owner walks out unscathed” etc
I hope Mahindra ( and tata and other manufacturers) foresees this and electronically limits the speed of this very capable machine to 160 or so.

The onus of driving responsibly and safely is solely on the public themselves. It would be atrocious to suggest that companies set speed limits to a car. If a person wants to be a buffoon and test the car to it's hilt even in real world conditions, only he himself is to be held accountable for any eventuality.

Thank you for the information, did you happen to mean 5 stars for adult occupant protection and 4 stars for child occupant protection? I believe the current Global NCAP assessment does not issue a star/point/percentage rating for side impact but merely tests for compliance with UNECE Regulation 95 as a requirement for the fifth adult occupant protection star.

Sirish Chandran from Evo India did come close to top speed mark of 200kmph at testing track before he was red flagged. If not, he could have breached 200kmph.

Sorry, what's so atrocious in saving lives by not allowing speeds which are anyway illegal everywhere in India?
Yes, responsibility of driving safely is on the drivers, but not solely on them. It's also on the govt (hence the laws and regulations), the manufacturer (hence the safety equipment), the RTO (hence the tests and certificates). Irresponsible drivers kill/injure not just themselves but also other innocent people.

I don't they will limit the speed but have the visual and audio warning when crossing specific limits (like what the german cars have now).

Limiting the speed or offering fixed warnings at certain speeds is absurd since conditions change over time. Right now the govt has mandated speed warnings at 80 and 120 which are supposedly unchangeable. Now the transport ministry has agreed to upgrade speed limit on expressways to 140kmph. Who adapts your car to modify the warning thresholds? That is why such ideas are absurd and limiting speeds is atrocious. IF you limit top speed to 120, then some moron will crash it at 119kmph and still kill people around. So what next? Accident happened at 119 lets limit speed to 100 and see if that helps?
What must be appreciated in the XUV700 is the provision of ADAS. At least on the AX7 variants, the system will intervene and reduce the consequences of bad driving if not completely prevent the consequence. For this Mahindra deserves every bit of praise for thinking forward, not backward. It might have some excess intervention or so but it would teach drivers to maintain distance from vehicles, not cut in randomly into others paths and also prevent collision with pedestrians. Much more convincing than limiting speed to X kmph and then expecting that to make a huge difference.

What you are suggesting is really atrocious. Many of the enthusiasts enthusiasm will be really gone. What is the point of so much R&D being done on bringing more powerful engines ? Also as per you then supercar and superbike owners taking delivery of their vehicles should immediately be charged with having suicidal tendencies or with attempt to murder.
What really should be done instead should be getting a different license to handle such vehicles which will test the owners capability rigorously.
