I have been allocated a vehicle and will be getting the delivery on 24th(hopefully) of July. They almost made it impossible to get the PDI done and I had strict timelines regarding dates to adhere to hence had to comply. I have just received the invoice which mentions the chassis number. Upon checking the VIN on "https://rtovehicle.info/vindecoder" I am getting the vehicle manufacturing date as June '23. Is this old enough for me to bother about it, or this fits in a reasonable time frame? Is there any other reliable website to check out the VIN?

Would be great if any of the new owners, with a vehicle manufacturing date of June '23 could confirm, whether the vehicles they have, have the latest version of the software for the car play and android auto. Are any of the older issues which were reported are being faced in the car as of now?

=====
I am seriously thinking of considering other options in the market considering this frequent change of delivery dates.

I followed exactly what Sommos has suggested here and I am getting my vehicle delivered, hopefully :). The tweet more than anything in my case worked.

I had a May '22 booking and I waited for the waiting period to be more than a year and then escalated the issue last month in June. I am also receiving the same messages that you are, but post the escalation I have had a quick follow-up from the dealership and they have allocated me a vehicle. I am taking the delivery on 24th. Hopefully, you get yours soon too.

Hi All, Could anyone please confirm if the Mapples app referenced below is the same as that already present on the XUV700 (MapMyIndia) or this is different and has to be downloaded separately? Thanks in advance

I do not use CarPlay and have used the update for only a few hours now. So, not fully answering your question but some general observations.
  1. The UI is a lot faster now. The feeling that I had to touch hard is not there.
  2. Automatically start playing music in Android auto has started working now. Also, FM is not starting every time I start the car.
  3. Mappls is great with correct traffic updates, and overspeed warning. The accuracy of speed limits on BLR ORR is accurate to the meter at which the speed limit starts. It shows both the limit and your speed. Who would stick to a 30kmph limit on ORR is a different question! Speed bumps are mostly marked but, again, one wouldn't keep looking at the screen. Real-life view of intersections are helpful too. I do not foresee me using a lot of Android auto now.
  4. There is a bit of breaking of the music when Mappls starts.I think it is taking too much of resources.
  5. Navigation refuses to start without internet. A let down as compared to Google Maps especially when starting the drive from a basement parking,
  6. In the morning, after parking the car in a basement parking, GPS took a good 5-6 min to lock.
  7. The navigation in the instrument cluster took a while to show full information. It was originally showing only a blank map and turns. Yet to see if this is an initial sync issue.

Current mapmyindia has offline map data. Mappls is part of the latest update and replaces the old mapmyindia app.

To decode the VIN check this thread :

One month old vehicle is normal and there is nothing to worry about. But I would suggest you download the TBHP checklist and perform a thorough PDI before making any payment.

Do not worry about the software because it can be updated at the dealership/ ASC any time. Since your car is june manufactured, in all probability it will not have the latest software version (i.e. 10.27.61 or 10.27.62 based on the variant).

Best of luck for your new car.

Thanks a lot- So do i need to go to the Mahindra service center for software update to get the MAPPLS installed or is there is any other options?

Got to see what all settings have got reset now! :disappointed

Hi Ivan,

Are you sure ? Auto headlamps has got nothing to do with ICE versions and hi beam assist IMO. It’s a separate unit. It could have been an auto headlamp day light sensor issue, which got reset with the settings some how.

My ADAS settings goes for a toss every time I send the car to service. Strange.

Happy Driving

PS: Other day I saw a totally wrecked AX7L at service centre, and was wondering how it happened. The car was totally damaged from all sides except the passenger cage. One more proof of the brilliant build quality. On enquiring the SA whether the AEBS was on or off, SA replied that the customer has switched it off as he used to drive in city a lot. He has run it over an unmarked divider in the night. Sad, AEBS could have prevented this accident or at least reduced the impact speed.
Henceforth I sincerely request everyone to keep to AEBS on and drive within speed limits.

Yes sure of it. Started working as soon as I enabled the setting. Nothing to do with the sensors.
Seems the software upgrade actually reset quite a bit, including deleting the profile, Alexa settings, and a few other ADAS settings.

Agree on the build quality and AEBS is a must even in city driving conditions. Has helped me at a traffic junction once. As the signal turned green, two over-enthusiastic folks ran across the road to cross in a hurry. AEBS stopped the vehicle with a warning instantly!

Yes, you need to go to the ASC. It can take 1.5-3 hrs depending on which updates are pending.

In-home Alexa

Is anyone else facing expiry of 'In-home Alexa' linking from the app? It get delinked every few days and I have to configure it again. Today, I linked it in the morning but it had to be delinked again in the afternoon. I wrote to customer care but they redirected the complaint to the ASC. If I remember correctly, once I saw a message that the link has expired on my Echo Show screen.

For me, I cannot even link the car to my home's Echo Dot. It just says no access on a browser page. I asked the Service Centre and they said it's a network issue on my part.

Since AX5 have only USB port in front, and no other source to power the dashcam, is any AX5 owner able to install 2 channels Dashcam in their vehicle?

Most dual channel dashcam's need only a single power source. The rear camera takes power from the front camera.

Agree...But in case of AX5 there is no 12V power socket or any power socket except of USB at the front.
As in the attached image, AX7 has 2 ports but AX3, AX5 doesn't have this highlighted port. 12V power socket is available only at the 3rd row seat. If Dashcam has to be installed power has to be from 3rd row 12V socket, which I am not sure if anyone has tried to use it and what precautions must have been taken.

You will have to hardwire it using a fuse adapter. This is the only way to connect both of them.

Just now installed 70mai A800 dual channel cam in my brother's AX7 P AT. Used the left most socket in the front (the one for AA/CP). Cam is working perfectly so assuming that 12 v lighter port is not a requirement.

Hope this helps.

Booked an AX7L D AT AWD 2 months before. SA assured me that he could get the vehicle before the festive season this year.

I waited one year before finalizing the booking hoping to get a refresh with basic premium features like auto IRVM and ventilated seats (and maybe even UV Cut glasses), but gave up waiting eventually.

Now that I hear a refresh is in the works and may launch soon I'm going to cancel my booking. Also, seeing how much features the new Seltos have, it just seems I'd missing out on a lot in comparison (just on the features) and I think I'd wait a bit more for a "perfect" car.
