I was referring to point 2 of the post I quoted for the recall part. There is no recall for battery.

Experienced the first weird glitch with my N last Saturday. When starting up after a refuel, the displays (both the infotainment and the instrument cluster) went blank, with a 'thud' sound. Restarting a couple of times didn't resolve. Since music was playing fine, cooling was responsive (thanks to the physical controls) and I don't use the console for navigation, continued the remaining 250km journey back home. Didn't bother checking on Alexa's well being :-)

Booked an appointment with the service center for the following Monday. Didn't drive the vehicle on Sunday. Guess what happens on Monday when I start up for the service center? Displays are all fine, as if nothing happened! Continued anyway to the service center in hope of getting an inspection done, but the sheer number of vehicles in the service queue was really off putting. Aborted the planned inspection, and since then the issue hasn't resurfaced.

What did bother me most with this experience, though, is I was pretty low on fuel and was monitoring the range before the refuel. Had this happened before the refuel, it could have been rather ugly.

Welcome to the glitch. It happened to some of us and restored on restarting after being parked for a while. The tricky part is the reproduction and I couldnt get to show it to service teams too as it was pretty normal after that. Next time, I am prepared to shoot a video of it to show it to the service team and find a possible solution. Until then, I am depending on the infamous MS Joke - "Restart if you are struck" albeit with a gap.

That's exactly what the SA said! I was like, 'I have the videos before and after. Wasn't recording the exact same moment this happened. I mean, who does?!' Asked him in a lowered voice, that I had heard/read reconnecting the battery terminals fixes it. And, with a wry smile, he says, 'unofficially, sir. Next time record OK!' So, that's that. I guess, I'll just install in-cabin cameras. Be a vlogger while at it lol:

Facing a strange issue with my Scorpio N Petrol AT. After starting the car, initial transmission changes, whether from P to R or R to D, gives a strange heavy jolt to the vehicle. During driving also, initial few transmission shifts give similar jolt. Strangely after driving few meters this stops and transmission shifts are smooth . If I stop also then and shift to P or R its fine. Issue resurfaces once ignition is turned on from off!

There were no errors on the speedo console according to him.

Has anyone come across this weird issue? Do you know / Can you think of a possible cause?

P.S. I have advised him to get it checked with the Service center.

Since no one has replied to this yet, I assume its not a common issue. Anyways here is what happened later.

The issue started getting worse and he lodged a complaint with Mahindra. They sent someone to check it.They found no issues, it was switching off like normal. My BIL asked him to drive it for like 5-10kms and then check. It took ~4mins to stop.

The vehicle was then taken to the Service Center in Bangalore (Shreesha I think). After messing around for a bit, they said it was the start-stop button that was faulty and that it had to be replace. But that would take like 5 working days. My BIL pulled some strings and sourced one from Mangalore's Karnataka agencies (I think) and the button was replaced. Yesterday they tried everything at the service center and it was absolutely normal.

Today while on the way from Blr to Coorg, the vehicle refused to switch off at Hunsur, it took around 4-5 mins again. They were advised to keep the key fob close to the Start-Stop button and it worked. After reaching Virajpet, the car just wouldn't turn off. At this point, the key fob thing was found out to be a fluke thing or a co-incidence and it wasn't working. Now the Auto Start-Stop wasn't killing the engine anymore either. He was on video call with Mahindra for around 45 mins and nothing worked. Finally, he was asked to pull the battery cable, which stopped the engine. This is a serious issue and the vehicle will be sent back to Mahindra in Bangalore next week.

I am trying to understand what could cause this issue. Have you encountered a similar issue or know someone who has? Can you think of anything that can cause this? Please do let me know. Any help / leads are greatly appreciated

Indeed this is first time I have heard of this issue.

I am wondering if adrenox could be used to turn off the engine.
I see the vehicle is Z8L so this should work.

Can you actually switch off via AdrenoX? I am asking this because, back when the Scorpio-N was new, the adrenoX was activated like 4-5months after the purchase. I tried the app and it was extremely laggy and if I recall correctly, I was never able to turn it off via the app. I cannot recall now if there was a menu option or it simply didn't work at that time. I will try and check it on Sunday.

The funny part is that the issue is intermittent. From what I was told, the issue is more persistent on longer duration of usage, which honestly is weird. Can something to DPF cause this issue? (I know during regen the engine revs higher, which wasn't the case here)

Check key fob battery strength

My Scorpio-N broke down today near Dharmathala on my way from Karkala to Bangalore. My car is Z8DMT. After driving from home for around 70km in the early morning on empty roads majorly on 5th and 6th gears, I entered into some congestion on the road. After hardly 2-3 mins into this traffic in 1st and 2nd gears, suddenly felt strong burning smell and the clutch lever got stuck inside.

After a while, somehow I moved the car out of the road and called RSA. They suggested me not to drive further and initiated the towing process. I was able to engage the clutch and gears after few mins once the car cooled down but I just moved the car little away from the road and parked it.

Towing vehicle and cab arrived after more than 3 hours. Fortunately I was alone and my family wasn’t with me. Now my car has been towed to Mangalore SC but today being a holiday and tomorrow also being Bakrid holiday ( not sure ) I think my car will be attended on Tuesday.

My car has run only 13k kms & 1 year old and mainly used on highways as I have another car for city use. It was really disappointing to see the car breakdown with clutch issue with such less usage and now I need to see how Mahindra will handle this.

Reliability is something we can’t expect from new cars also these days!

Took the vehicle to mahindra service center, Reay Road. They acknowledged the issue and indicated AT telltale sign was on. They kept the vehicle and said will run full diagnostics which could take 3-4 days. Vehicle has hardly covered 100 kms. Let's see.

Did a TD of Scorpio N diesel AT 2WD Z8L. My comparison is with my current 2022 XL6 alpha AT.

1. Power on tap, no doubt it
2. Kids liked the space, better interior than all black XL6 interiors
3. Engine gearbox combo feels like match made in heaven
4. Did not for a second feel like I am driving a big BOF SUV

The only reason why I wud not go for it is the unsettled ride quality. Just felt that my XL6 has better ride quality on the regular potholes and bumps since it is planted and not unsettled like Scorpio N. Probably Scorpio N is made for roads that you are most likely to experience in the western world.

Taking Scorpio N for offroading, can't even imagine the fate of passengers shaking inside like a martini.
