Re: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

I feel its dead on arrival product. Where as German marquees have silky smooth V6 diesels to offer and 6cylinder petrol's also on offer. BMW X5 has more snob value and better drivability. I cant compare with the new Mercedes GLS as its way ahead.
Seriously what's on Jeep India's mind I fail to understand. Why are Indians always treated as second world customers after paying through the nose.
I feel my 3.2 Ford Endeavour is better equipped and more robust than the JEEP Grand Cherokee. Just my thoughts only.

Re: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

It would have been a decent 50-60L car but it's just underpowered for 90L.

I wonder what the 0 to 60mph times would be for this car. The L version with a V6 does about 7.5 seconds. In Australia, folks seem to be comparing the Grand Cherokee L to the LC300. I guess the LC300 is going to cost beyond Rs. 2Cr here in India?

Indian version has only 2 rows of seats. The 4 cyl petrol ensures that this will be underpowered and very inefficient. Atleast they could have given a decent diesel engine where the torque would help drivability and efficiency.

Best not to compare with the LC300 since it is a CBU here and atrociously overpriced. Toyota doesn't really have any interest in selling it in numbers here and it's just a status symbol for politicians/businessmen. We had an LC200 abroad and while it is an amazing car, it was clearly a segment below an X5, X7, GLS, range rover etc and it was priced to reflect that. It's only in India that they are priced above it due to taxes

As far I Know there are no diesel variants anywhere in the world for the Grand Cherokee anymore. They will probably introduce the new I-6 Hurricane gasoline engine, which does duty on the Grand Wagoneer in the Grand Cherokee (2023 onwards).

Then they should have started looking into a hybrid. Current engine is neither efficient nor powerful.

Re: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

Frankly, this is overpriced for what it offers. The engine is not that great for that price point. Would rather buy an X5 with the BMW badge or the Merc.

Re: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

I just bought the Jeep Wagoneer here in the USA which is double the car for lesser than the price of this car in India. Nobody should be paying 90 lakhs for a 2.0 Jeep Cherokee no matter what.

Re: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

Test drove Grand Cherokee today. Its first impressions are indeed extravagant with a complete butch look and those massive allows with 265-width tyres. They look apt and give a very muscular stance.
One of the letdowns was seeing the bonnet half empty to the front! It needs a straight six or a v8 to fill all that space. The 4pot looks puny. For comparison, the Wrangler has the same engine and it fills up the bonnet space quite well.

Onto drive now. It does drive rather well. The stance is high, comparable to Defender and HUD is quite nice. Ventilated and heated seats are super welcome in our extreme weather spectrum.
Overtaking is a breeze after all 270HP is enough firepower and triple digits come in rather quickly. I think it must be doing lower 7s to 100kmph but after 130, the engine seemed to not have top end grunt and felt strained.

Overall, without air suspension and a few down interiors, I would personally prefer a Defender P400 or D300 over this but of course, the latter options are 1.5x OTR than GC so there’s a class difference here and to be honest GC doesn’t have any competitors in its price range (77 ex-showroom) barring Fpace P250 and It’ll be a tough call to choose between GC and FPace.

Re: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

Is a diesel engine expected to come in this Jeep? Someone is considering one, but the current engine specifications are a damp squib. Sales people do say about a possible diesel variant, but nothing confirmed though. Any info any one ?

Re: 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

Is grand Cherokee value for money now with ~12L discount which may put OTR price around 75 lakhs?

With the Fortuner prices being around 56L OTR, I think the Cherokee with a near 70L price is a pretty decent deal.
