Coming from a 2016 gypsy king, this feels like eons ahead in comfort and on road manners. The gearbox does have some niggles though. I find slotting into first gear to be quite cumbersome. I don't know if it's an issue but I'm planning to drive it more and see if it gets better.
It is raining Jimnys indeed!
Congrats to you and other new owners for joining the club.
Looks like more manual Jimnys are getting added to the clan, which was dominated by automatics earlier.
Regarding the gear shift, it will get smoothened out by the time you cross 5k on the odo. Though not totally seamless, but the hardness you feel in the new car will not be there.

Our vacation plans have changed after Jimny's arrival. No more looking for resorts with good approach roads. We now specifically look for accommodation options where no normal cars can reach.
We get to explore some really good off beat locations in the hills.

Jimny has been a worthy addition to our garage and loved by everyone in the family.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Is anyone facing issue with sound auto adjusting while using ACP/AA on Alpha trim? I have disabled the speed sensitive volume under sound settings still the sound keeps adjusting itself. When there is a beat, the sound level will reduce, during vocals it will increase. Doesn't matter which mode I am using Dynamic/Natural, behaviour is the same.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

My Jimny is having a strange noise when I am give slight throttle and holding steady pace. It's kind of a mix of whine and rubbing sound. Not sure if it is common for all Jimnys. Will recreate the issue and take it to service.

Here is the FE I'm getting. Top two are from Mysore Bangalore drive with cruise set at 80 kmph most of the time.

The whine what you hear is pretty normal for all Jimny's, its the transmission whine, though I wouldn't exactly call it a rubbing sound. The following three things I feel are quiet common in Jimny's and are a carry over from it Gypsy heritage. I had all these three in my 2018 Gypsy and they are there in my Jimny as well but I must admit are fairly controlled:
1. Transmission whine: It was much pronounced in Gypsy whereas much controlled in Jimny but still there.
2. Small play in drive shaft leading to a "khat" sound when releasing clutch in 1st\2nd gear mostly: I experience this in my Jimny as well though I already know how to control it ( This observation is only for MTs ).
3. Hard gear shift: My gypsy when new had a ridiculously hard gear shift and it eased out with regular use, Jimny though slightly better is no different.

Having said that, since I was new to Gypsy I use take it to Maruti ASC often and mechanics there used to be as clueless as me. More often than not they use to experiment on the car and make the matters worst. Latter after speaking to many gypsy veterans I learnt to ignore such issues as they were not issues as such but the nature of the vehicle due to its inherent crudeness. Though this last statement of mine is not 100% accurate for Jimny but still applies to it to an extent as the underlying Engine, gearbox and transmission design is largely similar. Hence please understand the vehicle, maybe also compare with few other owners in your city which will save you needless mental agony of dealing with clueless service center guys as the attitude of ASS mechanics is no different towards Jimny, they service it as they are servicing a Baleno or a Ertiga and seems to have no specialized training to handle a 4x4 RWD vehicle. And can't blame then either as unfortunately this is the only 4x4 RWD vehicle in their portfolio which further does not sells well and hence leaves no room for learning by experience as well

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Added 831 KMs over the weekend, odometer is now at 5,600 KMs. Did a short run from G.Noida to Kali Ka Tibba Temple, Chail in Himachal. I was hoping to engage the 4x4 at some point during the trip since it was raining continuously but alas, did not get any opportunity. The climb to Kali Ka Tibba was done in 2wd.

Overall an uneventful trip, except TCS kicking in during downhill drive from Kandaghat to Pinjore. Had visited Nexa a day prior to the trip for 5,000 KMs checkup. Motorcraft has opened a brand new swanky Nexa Service just 2 kms away from my place.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Great to see you are enjoying the car, the Jimny has a lot of potential and is a beloved car the world over, but the dynamics of our market and the initial pricing are what went against it. Hope you have many more great miles and memories with it!

I'm not sure if this is the cheapest place to buy a jimny in India but for the price I paid, it's a no brainer. I was on the fence for so long waiting for additional colours and the possibility of additional engine options. With the sales doldrum over the past few months and the jimny thread here, I knew this is the best time to get one.

Also yet to take it to the hill trails I frequent but I'm sure that's going to be a piece of cake in this car.
Congratulations on your Jimny purchase and welcome to the club.

I think this is the cheapest on road price for the Alpha MT variant that i have come across.
My Zeta MT on road in Delhi was 12.35 and in Jan'24 that was one of the better deals.

Have fun driving !

I took the delivery last Friday and enjoying every moment with Jimny. Have done couple of drives already and odometer is well past 200 kms.

Some random observations-
  • I will reiterate what other members have mentioned already. This is an attention magnet.
  • Though compact this gives a proper SUV feel. The high perch, visible bonnet, ladder frame characteristics, slow steering, it’s all wonderful.
  • Enough said about ride quality . It just dismisses bad roads with aplomb and minimum disturbance is felt inside.
  • Engine is smooth and I like the note when it’s revved. Fuel efficiency looks decent to me.
  • Coming from a Linea, this is as modern car as one can get minus the 4 speed TC transmission. It gets big touch screen with Wireless CarPlay , 6 airbags, cruise control, LED headlights, keyless entry and start, ISS, reverse camera and some more.

All draped

Congrats! Looks absolutely fabulous!

Would you mind posting your final price on road and in Pune? Did you get an AT or Manual?

And my quote of 13.33 also includes accessories worth 10k which the dealer was adamant about not removing. Other than this I am also getting accessories worth 15k for free.

The car assigned is manufactured in July 2024 and has run 33 km. I used Zekardo for the PDI which was done at the dealer stockyard. The Zekardo technician seemed impressed and said the car was perfect on all parameters and added that this is usually the case with most Suzuki cars. Zekardo gave it a perfect score of 10 with all parameters well within the expected range.

Have been waiting for the paperwork for the loan to be done which is now over and I will most probably take the delivery tomorrow. I took the bare minimum amount of loan that the bank agreed to and will close it within a month to save on interest paid. This was just to avail of the 1.5L discount.
Been a while since I was this excited. Counting the hours!

Finance Offer discount - 150000
Additional Offer - 70000

Additional offer is because it is a September 2023 Manufactured vehicle.
I am not willing to take that risk with almost a year old vehicle.

Looks like this is Maruti Suzuki's new lifestyle magazine. Early owners like us didn't even receive this!

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

I am getting my Jimny delivered next week and had planned for upgrading the tyres immediately after the delivery. Made some enquires to few shops in Bangalore and was surprised to see that none is interested in the buy back of the stock Jimny tyres. All of them have lots of Jimny stock tyres and they are not able to sell it off as no other cars has the same size.

So anyone has done the tyre trade in recently in Bangalore for Jimny ? Planning to keep the stock tyres in case I don't get any good deals.
