.
It's vehicle on time basically and not exactly driving time. For a showroom vehicle, higher time and lower odo reading is quite understandable. Also, this time would have started right from the Factory itself.

And I don't know any modern day car that uses cables for odometer to be disconnected!

My main concern would be there is no way 'run in' procedure for the new engines would be followed by limiting the speed and engine rpm for the first 1000 km.
I think disconnecting the odo is a pretty old practice and it wouldn't be easy on modern day cars. The drive time would also include the idling time. The SA could be switching on the engine to show some display features/AC to customers in the showroom. So, that could be the reason for higher driving time while the odo is around 40 to 60.

I think that is the vehicle on time. When I started the PDI in yard it was at 10km 1:53 hrs. When I ended the PDI it was 12km and 3:14 hrs. Yes, I did drive it inside the yard. Same thing on delivery day. While car was being cleaned and prepped for delivery the clock was ticking.

Congratulations on your new car! You were on the fence for quite a while there.

What on-road price did you get?

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

A great start to the new year indeed Got my Jimny Alpha AT. Basic modding has started:
  • Radar Renegade RT+ Tires
  • Redtiger T27 mirror dashcam. Much needed since the OEM camera is really bad

Got a bunch of other accessories before getting the car, yet to install them all.

Looks nice. If I may ask, where and how much did you pay for the tyres and the dashcam?

- Got the dashcam from Amazon
- Link to hardwire kit
- Tires were bought from Torque Block and costed Rs15,500 per tire. You can contact Pavan at +91 74836 09712 for more details

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Folks,
How much should a aluminium roof rack cost? Anyone got the flat ARB style version? The length seems kind of too short at only 53x50inches but I was told it weighs at 16kgs which seems too high for an aluminium build.

That caught my attention. Is it just a rumour?
Surely there are 2 issues that have come forth till now :

1) Steering Alignment issue - Electronic issue basically. Maruti did not know this and few people have got this fixed after lot of complaints.
2) Brakes issue at much higher altitudes which is already known.

If anything else is known to anyone, please share.

So looking for a answers to these questions:

1. Would this swap make sense?
2. What about financial sense?
3. Would I miss my Scorpio's 2.2 MHawk beast and the super smooth 6 gear TC?
4. Would I miss the road presence of the Scorpio?
5. I would like some creature comforts that my Scorpio currently does not have, dual zone AC, a quiet cabin, a good infotainment system. Will I get this in the Jimny?

I could buy a ScorpioN in a few years time but wondering if the Jimny makes the best sense right now? Any thoughts on the resale value of the Jimny?

Or should I consider the Thar which is in a similar price range?

Confused and looking for some clarity!
For clarity I would suggest asking yourself only two questions
1. Why do you wish to change car. Is it must buy / impulse buy. Excellent thread on tbhp about impulse buy. If it's impulse buy then proceed to question two.
2. What is your car or choice i.e. you wish to change because heart is set on Jimny or Jimny because of price drop and it's in news.

If it's not a impulse buy then look elsewhere and get a Scorpio or similar SUV.

If it's a impulse buy or hearts calling then go for Jimny. Dont ask too many questions or compare with Scorpio because on excelsheet Jimny would loose in most areas. But in practice it's still a lovely little SUV and on its own quite good. Take a test drive and if you like it then go for the same, provided it's hearts calling.
