Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

Hello BHPians,

I have booked Tata Harrier Stealth Edition Fearless+ AT.

Just wanted to know if someone has any updated pdf for Owner's Manual of Harrier. The one I have (attached) seems a bit dated.

Want to get a head start on understanding the car better before it gets delivered in 2 weeks.
Attached Files
File Type: pdf Tata Harrier Owner's Manual.pdf (11.53 MB, 63 views)

Congratulations welcome to the club, please do share pics of your beast.

I also have the same PDF for my 2024 Harrier, I do not think there are any major changes in the manual apart from the ADAS features which I guess we can get this from the service center. When I went for my LKA software update, service center had kept a hard copy of the LKA feature guide sheet in my glove box post the upgrade.

Check with the sales team or service center if they have a PDF on all the ADAS features that should help.

Thank You.

Yup, most of the features are same from that PDF. I am actually using Curvv Owner's manual (PDF) for checking on ADAS features, which is more or less the same from the Physical manual provided with my Harrier.

Though I am loving the experience, I have few niggles which are quite annoying for me:
(1) The horn is extremely hard to press on the top portion, thus I have to slide my hand down wherever I need to press the horn (which is quite often, as usually the case is in India) - creating a delay in responding to those situations, as well as degrading my control on the steering. Any way the horn sensitivity could be improved at the top portion?
(2) The steering wheel, although nice to hold is very slippery. Would official accessory for steering wheel provide some much needed grip?
(3) The left portion of my left knee kept touching the hard beam of the dashboard, which has quite a sharp edge, thus registering high level of discomfort. This I have heard has been quite an annoying part for many drivers, but I got it solved by installing an edge guard on hard beam (which I already had at home, thanks to babyproofing the house) and now the contact area of knee and beam is soft and doesn't bother me at all.

Any help regarding annoyance 1 & 2 would be appreciated.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

Hi everyone,
I'm owner of Harrier XZ Plus Manual Transmission Feb 2020 manufactured car. It's the first facelift 170bhp model, launched in 2020. Till now, I have completed 1,32,000 km in last 4 yrs. I have done all the services in TASS as per the service recommendations by Tata.

Since last 25,000 km, I'm facing a problem. At 1,05,000 km, the glow plug indicator turned on. The car won't start as soon as engine start button is pressed. After some 30 sec of turning on ignition, the glow plug indicator would turn off and then pressing the engine start button will start the car. So it became like a old diesel engines, where one needed to turn on heater for some time and then switch on the engine.
So I consulted TASS. They diagnosed the problem as failure of one glow plug and changed it. Thereafter that particular problem is completely solved and there wasn't recurrence of above problem.

At the same time, I changed all 4 tyres to Apollo Aptera HT2 as the old tyres were worn out. There is no problem with the new tyres.

However, since then I have noticed significant drop in fuel efficiency of my car. Previously I used to get around 13 kmpl in city and around 17 kmpl on highway. But now I'm hardly getting 10 kmpl in city and 14 kmpl on highway driving. And my driving style has always been very sedate and 100% times in Eco mode only.

I have noticed one more thing. Previous to drop in fuel efficiency, the car used to run in a particular gear without stalling. But now, the car tries to pick up the speed without pressing the accelerator. I mean, if I'm driving in 4th gear and even if I don't press the accelerator, the car will keep on going without stopping, however steep incline there may be.. Unless and until, I press the brakes and decrease the speed, it will not stop. When I press the brakes to decrease the speed, it is as if the car is not allowing the speed to decrease. If I press the brakes and decrease the speed momentarily within downshifting the gear, car will immediately gain the higher speed on its own without pressing the accelerator and settle at little higher speed. The speed will not increase beyond a particular limit for that respective gear, but it won't allow the speed to go down. The speed at which the car settles for 1st gear is around 10 kmph, for 2nd gear 15 to 18 kmph, for 3rd gear 25 to 28 kmph, 4th gear 35 to 40 kmph, 5th gear 45 to 50 kmph and for 6th gear 60 kmph. Whichever gear the car may be, it will keep on going at above speed without pressing accelerator, and however steep the road may be... It even climbs 60 degree incline also without pressing accelerator. This phenomenon is little surprising to me. I'm driving diesel cars since many years. Even this car was not behaving like this upto 1,05,000 km. I informed this to TASS mechanics in regular TASS, they say this is normal. I would have believed them.. but the problem is, this phenomenon coincides with significant drop in fuel efficiency of my car.

What can be the reason?

Thanks in advance.

I had somewhat similar problem in my pre-owned chevy Cruze AT the car would revv to more than 2500 rpm and stay there. I gave it to the fng and he changed the accelerator pedal and it's sensor. May be the accelerator position sensor is acting erratic in your case Get it checked. Mostly this will solve your issue if not then there maybe issues with your ecm.

Hi, what you are talking about is the anti-stall feature that most cars come with these days. Have you upsized the tyres in any way (width, profile etc)? This will make the anti-stall feature more pronounced while driving in that case. Happened to me too and this can impact fuel efficiency as well.

Thanks. I haven't upsized the tyres. I just changed all 4 tyres, because they were at the end of their life cycle. Same size in every aspect.
I agree that it's anti-stall feature, however it's has suddenly become very pronounced. It has affected fuel efficiency significantly. And moreover it's affecting my driving also. The car has become difficult to control. It doesn't decrease the speed if I stop pressing the accelerator. I have driven the same car for almost 1 lac kilometres, but i didn't notice anything like this. After completion of more than 1,00,000 km, I noticed this.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

Hello fellow BHPians,

I own a pure variant (Harrier 2025 chassis) and already shared my ordeal in the same thread about how Tata motors played couldn’t care less about information published on their websites promoting their products and features. (Missing the Electrically adjustable ORVM and missing armrest).

Now this is mechanical related where I notice a change in vehicle behaviour when driven beyond 115kmph, it starts to vibrate the seats and this is clearly evident from all passengers. When pushed, it indicates clearly strong discomfort during the drive. It has done 4.4K kms so far but I have not done alignment and wheel balancing yet. Reported this during 1st service and they lied to me that there was no vibration as they tested until 140kmph which is a blatant lie as I can see the drive next analytics still showing the top speed of I did (127kmph).

Please suggest what might be the issue here? Anyone has had this issue and resolved it?
