The two top options that often come to my mind on whenever it’s time to replace the 3GT are the Hycross and the Camry. The Hycross’s no compromise comfort and practicality of ground clearance make a compelling case (specially given the extra money saved) but there is a different kind of executive class and comfort that sedans offer that is just unbeatable.

Few things that are particularly refreshing are full size spare despite it being a hybrid (wish more manufacturers could pull this off) and basic controls in the rear armrest - it belies logic why chauffeur driven cars across the board lack these - these were almost par for course in 15 year old Civics and Corollas.
Spot on Axe and I completely agree. The Toyotas have made me a huge fan of hybrids. I was using the Hycross Hybrid for the whole of last week and what a car it is. I'm a very sedate driver and I don't care if its not fun to drive. It does what it is supposed to do just right. Even my mom who isn't really a car person loved it. Its just so stress free.

Waiting to get my hands on the new Camry next, after I'm done having fun with the Hilux

Re: 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid Review

Wonderful insights about the noise filtering into the cabin. For a 50+ Lakh car, one would expect it to be silent, even more so since the Camry is being positioned as a luxury oriented vehicle. Definitely a deal breaker, at least for me.

  • Considering this is one expensive Toyota, I would’ve expected much less of the engine - eCVT drone coming into the cabin compared to something like a HyCross. NVH and Engine refinement is something Toyota should’ve paid very close attention to considering this is sold as a premium car in India.

Reliability, Comfort, Space, Low Service Costs and most importantly strong resale value is what sets the Camry apart. If I had the money, this is the sedan I would buy over an A4, C-Class and maybe a 3GL as well.
Great point of view, thanks! Just as we sedan lovers were getting a warm fuzzy feeling about the return of the D2 Sedan King, you poured cold water on everyone Shows how accomplished the HyCross is though, given the vast OTR price difference.

However, would you really buy this as your primary self-drive car, or only as a secondary chauffeured one?

At 58-61L OTR (another major reason for this thread to be almost dead) depending on which state you buy the Camry in, is a lot of money but the Camry can hold on to its own compared to the Big 3 German, because it has the backing of the mighty T Badge. Reliability, Comfort, Space, Low Service Costs and most importantly strong resale value is what sets the Camry apart. Well this gen of the camry is certainly a looker. However one thing i dont understand is why people think camry is an expensive car for its price in comparison to the C Class/A4/3 series. The german trio are certainly lacking in comparison to Camry in the rear seat space and the hybrid drive tech. I for one think that german trio should atleast get the hybrid tech when they are also selling at around 50-60 lacs. Further in terms of equipment, they dont get anything extra ordinary when compared to the Camry. And plus the Toyota Reliability.

All the cars which were earlier selling at around 30-40 lacs 5-6 years back are now selling in the range of 50-60 lacs. So i dont think that Camry is an overpriced car, certainly a bit on the expensive side but not overpriced.

The starting price for a 3 series is 60lacs (Excluding Tax). If adding Hybrid Tech pushes the price to the M340i's price tag, its going to be a dud in terms of sales.

The German trio are lacking Hybrid Tech only for India. BMW sell the Plug-in 330e in other parts of the world. Might be that the Hybrid Tech will make an already expensive car, even more expensive.

I've said this before. A Customer looking at a Camry won't be drawing comparisons to a 3 Series, A4 or C Class. They are poles apart as cars. The inverse holds true as well.

Re: 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid Review

Since deliveries have begun, can someone who has had an experience throw in some light on what accessories are being given by Toyota/Dealership as standard and free? Dealerships somehow do not seem as transparent as earlier times in my experience as I am getting very vague answers

Attachment 2727187
Only the Driver's Seat gets 2 Memory presets; Lock/Unlock Button, Mirror Adjustment, window switches & Window Lock buttons are placed here. All Window Switches are illuminated in a cool White colour, something which the HyCross misses out on.

With reference to the post that you made about importing illuminated master window switches from japan for hycross, I want to ask isn’t this camry unit compatible with hycross?

Yes, the 2025 Camry’s Master Window and Individual window switches are compatible with the HyCross, but across the globe the OEM Parts List for the 2025 Camry hasn’t been released by Toyota yet, hence had to order the RAV4’s Master Window Switches from Japan.

I think a year down the line, the oem parts list will be released. In that case where to source them from?

Re: 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid Review

Would like to have an input on the 9 speaker JBL audio system on the new Camry. Can anyone confirm if it comes with a separate amplifier and if yes, where is it located?

No mention of the 0-100 time? 227hp should put it around the 7.5 sec mark ballpark.

Its around that number in international channels. I test drove the Camry and felt its capable of that figure. Loved the instant response from standstill due to the battery assist.

Re: 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid Review

I'm seriously contemplating this car. Would any of you have on the road photos of the Dark Blue and the Precious Metal colours? Cement Gray as well if you have. The ones in the brochure and the ones on the road sometimes look very different. The Test Drive cars are mostly white, was not able to see the other colours in real

Saw the Camry in Precious Metal, on the Mumbai Coastal Road yesterday, looks damn premium in it! Almost mistook it for a BMW 6GT from far !!

Wanted to take a picture but was at the wheel so couldn’t :(

Re: 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid Review

Had an opportunity to attend launch event of Camry in Bangalore. While the delivery had begun quite sometime ago, launch event was held much later.

Camry overall package looks nice. Headlights look a bit quirky to me and rest of the design is nice. Interiors are good too with upper half getting soft touch materials. Quite a lot of features however doesn't look as luxurious as German sedans. Lexus ES even though is based on Camry looks a lot different and much more luxurious. I like the design of Lexus more than Camry. Compared to previous gen Camry, this one feels bit more upmarket and gets more features/updated hybrid tech. That said at 40-45 Lakhs(with discount), previous gen Camry was a steal.

They had a Vellfire too on display. Event was well organized with all 3 dealers from Bangalore present . There was representation from TKM too. While mainstream manufacturers steering away from sedan, good to see Toyota continuing to bring in latest iterations of Camry.

There was no test drive on offer during the event however dealers were prompt and mentioned that they will send one to home for test drive.

Red shade looks quite nice, alloy wheel color/design goes well with color

Good functional interiors, lot more nicer than say Fortuner/Hilux/Hycross
