Whats the RPM in 5th gear for respective speeds

80Km\hr
90\Km\hr
100Km\hr

I Td'ed A GP today,and the car was doing 80 At 2.5K RPM 90 Around 3K and 100 around 3.5K RPM,which in my opinion is pretty high:eek:
My Accent Petrol does 100 at 2650RPM,and i expected Lower from GP.
Also drove a figo and it was doing 100 around 2400-2500 RPM.

My MJD Punto does 100@2500 rpm. Might be a car specific issue

Its way too high! My car does 100 around 2.5K, and by 3.5K I'd be at 130~140kmph. Looks like its some issue with the specific car.

The only possible issue is either a speedo or a tacho display error, that is either the rpm or the speed that you are seeing is not the actual one. You were TDing the diesel and not the petrol I hope.

Does it matter? I guess NOT. The engine revs up pretty high for a diesel

Was that a petrol? My GP 1.2 does 100kmph at 3500rpm while all the GP 1.3 MJDs I have seen do 100kmph at 2500rpm.?

Yes,it was a MJD,and may be something was wrong with it,and it does matter to me,since i was testing it as prospective buyer, and i came out disappointed.
I will take another TD on a different car.

My Punto MJD does 80Km/hr @ 2000RPM and 100Km/hr @ 2500RPM. There is something wrong with the TD car, ask for a different car.

Are you sure? To my knowledge, its the other way round. Diesels are not rev-friendly, and its petrol engines that rev very high.

Yes the revs are wrong here.
Punto@3500 does 120+.

Even that rev is too high i believe. Blame it on the missing 6th gear.
Get a TD in a different car.

Most probably a slipping clutch. It does 100 at just under 2500rpm if I remember correctly. Tops out at 155 or so, and is very strained after that.

But hes said it revs high for a diesel. There is no mention or comparison to petrol.

We just had the alternator replaced under warranty. The engine was a tad too noisy. I was kind of relieved as the part cost was around INR 12000 after taxes. The noise level has drastically reduced and I am happy with Malik cars' service. The bill amount was zero including washing and cleaning.

A clutch slipping so bad as to cause a loss of a good 1000rpms would not be in very good condition at all. I doubt the TD car would be in that bad shape.

I can't think of anything else that would cause a 1000rpm rise.
