"A PROBLEM"
GUYS PLEASE HELP ME OUT

My Aura ABS (Satin gold, Petrol) had arrived on Monday and on Tuesday the PDI was done. So Wednesday morning my Dad accompanied me to the showroom for a full checkup (drive etc.)then pay the full amount before it goes for registration (temp.).
The car was clean, odometer read 10 km. I took it for a drive and was more than satisfied. So I handed out the DD. The salesman was so excited that he asked me to go for one more drive to which I agreed. We went for a 5 to 6 km drive and returned to park the car. A mechanic asked us to start the car again (as he thought he heard a different sound) and the vehicle DID NOT START:Shockked:. The salesman promised to look into the issue and said he will keep it ready by 5 pm.
After 4 hours I got a call from my friendly salesman saying that there was some problem with the STARTER MOTOR and that he had informed the dealer (friend) who in turn had contacted Tata motors.
The moment I heard the news, I went to see what had happened and was surprised (HAPPY and SAD) to see 3 Manza's (Diesel) being handed over to the happy owners.
The salesman comes to me and shows the Starter motor and says that the people from Tata motors are personally coming here to solve the problem (new starter motor) and check the whole system. They promised to sort it out in 2 to 3 days. I was a little tensed as the amount was given and before delivery this happened,"A PROBLEM":Frustrati

I am hoping that Manza sells well and captures a chunk of the market sales. But then this thought crept in my mind that I would be waiting till March 2010 to buy as I want a good ownership report /2010 registration and hopefully a BSIV variant. But if Manza sells well then it would be woefully common like the i10 or swift when I buy and I would have lost the uniqueness factor. My concern rests on the fact that this would be the first car I buy on my own( 2 Zens and Linea are by F/FIL)and as an average consumer i would need that Unique factor. Its logic VS practicality. :uncontrol:Frustrati

agree:That question is on so many people's minds. Also, even if there are not many Manza's on the road till March when the 2010 models roll out and all the initial feedback is received and is positive, you can expect that the demand for the Manza will grow and then it becomes quite common

We all know that the Manza has started off where the Vista left and taken the game fwd.

Beatifully said. Good observation.Do let the ACI people know about this mistake
A lot about manza is discussed only here in Team-bhp.Review by GTO looks like as if i myself have experienced thousand of kms driving the Manza. Such a masterpiece review it is.
I am also waiting for a couple of months to complete so that Tata might solve all the niggling issues about Manza and moreover can buy a 2010 manufactured car and better to avoid Test driven vehicles. Offcourse now i guess all the test driven vehicles must either be sold to the customers(with or without knowledge of the customers) and the rest labelled as Test driven vehicles.
Any one please clarify my doubt about the BSIV Norms. Is this applicable to diesel engines also????:)

Yes, Even diesel engines comply to BS norms. As far as i know, Ritz Diesel is the first vehicle to get BSIV norms in India.

Can anyone Update on availability of Diesel Aura ABS Monarch Red in your place?
Prerana Motors in bangalore is telling that They are not getting Diesel Aura ABS Monarch Red anywhere (No committed date also) and asking me to take Diesel Aura ABS Minimal Grey instead.
I am in confusion is the dealer telling truth or is he pushing the extra Minimal Grey he has?
Suggestions needed please:

Even the Linea and Punto and Palio MJD are all Euro IV compliant. Hope I am correct.

mostly seems to push you the one he has in stock and to encash his investment, or may be monarch red might take time to deliver in Aura ABS.

There are many vehicles which are BS IV compliant.

The ones that claim to be the first basically has got it certified by Indian regulatory bodies. The rest have not done yet. Does anybody think that Nissan X-Trail etc do not meet BS-IV? The issue is that since its not certified they cannot advertise so.

After 8 kms of slow drive to my office with horn on that poor chap was frustrated. Happened to call sales manager & he suggested removing horn fuse based on the diagram inside the cover for that section (near engine) to disable the horn and get vehicle to service centre. Could locate this three pin thing and on removing it horn went off completely. Am planning to take the car to service centre early next week (got to go out of town this weekend again).

I say chaps --- is it the product really fully tested and matured to have been offered to public?

Responses of sales delivery had indicated it enough that Tata were in hurry to launch this product.

There were news on ignition system part shortage and ABS part shortages till last week.

Oops a small niggle already. But, not to worry.. they should be able to fix it, and you even have your friend as well for extra insurance.

Anyway good to know you are finally getting your vehicle.

BTW, am taking my car today to service center for the non-stop horn (which had disappeared for 2-3 days in between).

Vijay

Be in no doubt, enough testing has been done. Tata spent a lot of money in testing the Manza (my friend/acquaintance who had worked with Hyundai before jumping ship to Tata says that the Manza has undergone really rigorous tests). Not a very objective/quantitative statement, but he has been in the automobile industry for close to 15 years and spent close to 4.5 years at Hyundai and I trust him.

There is hardly any reason to start rumour mongering by raising questions about testing. Both the problems listed are really not engineering problems and all manufacturers have some vendor related issues. Not a big deal.

I say chaps --- let's not jump the gun.

Oh man your statement has given me a very big relief. Thanks dude.
I really feel the Manza is a real VFM sedan and no other car is available in this price bracket with so many features that too with the most tested and trusted 1.3MJD. I have heard that the manza has been extensively tested for about some approx 23 lakh kms (please correct me if i am wrong)
I am really frustrated with the behaviour pattern of the Tata people. Why don't they give what the customers wants. Why do they always try to push what they have with them.(like someone said problem in getting the monarch red, asking to upgrade to the diesel rather than petrol, suggesting to the choose the non-abs version rather than the abs one).

I think it is always preferable to purchase a tata car from Concorde Motors (A wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors Ltd) rather than approaching any private dealer like Prerana Motors.

Well, I had worked as an intern at Tata Motors, Pimpri, in May and June 2007, and even then I had seen extensive testing on both the Vista and Manza. I mean fully ready cars, not those blacked out prototypes. I had even seen a few cars which were being used by Tata on a regular basis, rather than just testing. These 2 cars were pretty regular occurence around the factory area. And most people seemed very proud of these 2 cars. So I think the testing part is completely true.

What I think is Tata have gone ahead and launched the Manza a few months earlier, which has put quite a bit of pressure on the whole manufacturing chain. And the heavy amount of bookings hasn't helped at all. I think the manufacturing should settle down in a few months time.

That's why if my family decides to buy a Manza, it will only be after January.
