Hello all,

I know I'm resurrecting an old (and somewhat unpopulated) thread, but it seemed the only appropriate one. I am based in Pune and need an RTO agent for the following situation:

I've just brought back a Jawa from the dead, and now need it transferred to my name. The previous owner (a milkman) has not bothered with an FC since 1986, and refuses to understand the concept of insurance.
My understanding is that I need, hopefully in this order:

1) Emission certificate (30 bucks, easily done)
2) Insurance (if not the policy itself, atleast a temporary receipt from the insurers)
3) Fitness certificate (multiple FCs from 1986 to now, or fine for being 26 years late?)
4) Finally transfer the ownership

Now I'm not prepared to have my temper tested by the pot-bellied powers that be. Can somebody here recommend an RTO agent (MH12, not 14) who would do the needful without scamming me? Or running away with my original RC (it happens, really!)?

Depends on where you are based.
If you are in the city, in or around Kothrud/Deccan etc, Sai Motor Driving School is an old name, can do almost all RTO related jobs. Just dial can give their phone number.

Thanks Sajo! I'm at Baner Road, so Sai should do just fine. However, I just realised that my motorcycle is registered MFM which is Pune Rural, or Nigdi RTO according to this. Would this pose a problem, as I dont reside in Pune Rural or want it transferred to MH12?

Try Western India Automobile Association (WIAA). Their office is in Camp (near Westend Cinema). They are not a RTO agent, but, a govt recognized body. Take their annual membership (it is cheap) and they will be able to help you in this regard. Refer their website: http://www.wiaaindia.com/home for more info.
