What all you get from that old junk? Please chuck that idea.

Who's doing up your car? Most of the part are available. Either here or for sure in Kolkata.

You can contact me if you need any help.

I assume he is looking for the hard-to-find cosmetics, like bumper guards, twin taillights etc. Mechanically im sure everything is available through the regular channels. Doubt youll find a good condition SU carb in good shape though.

One can try. He's from Bangalore and Shivajinagar is there for him to look around. Failing which, Kolkata.

I agree, for a good condition SU carb..one needs to really hunt.

no progress to update...however i did remove the radiator and got it refurbished. I need to fix it back and need to fix the hot water outlet elbow on the engine.
I also removed the carb and need to fix it too.
The mechanic has asked me to wait for some more time .

Same here, started the work somewhere in Sept last year, work was on hold for want of a proper denter. Got hold of an old guy who was an expert on old cars especially the Amby. But then 1 holiday they take they disappear for 2 days, but am not complaining as long as the work is good. And secondly Vitamine M is the big factor too . Now the car is with the painter and work will start on monday.

All the guys who are knowledgeable enough to work on old cars are of the same tribe. Vitamin M is the incentive, but once they get it, abscond for a few days. Then a cock & bull story follows. This cycle repeats. With my corporate background,I tried project cars with a schedule chart, incentives for early completion, etc.I have now changed.I follow "Murphys Law" and believe that "cheer up things will get probably worse" !!

My car got off to a slow start last week this i how she looks (1964 Mark 1 Ambassador )

Picasa Web Albums - Naren - Mark 1 Ambass...

This is how i want her to look after the restoration (I am choosing the olive green and steel grey interior) and i need help in sourcing these parts as listed.

Picasa Web Albums - Naren - Morris Oxford 3

It is a 1964 Mark 1 , my father purchased it from a single owner in 1973 for 8000 R's i believe the new Ambassadors costed 18,000 Rs then.

The last repaint happened in 2000 while i was "AWAY" and the mechanic convinced my father and removed the SU Carb, Bumpers, grill lights and made it road worthy.

WHAT I NEED URGENTLY PLEASE HELP ME IN SOURCING THESE PARTS

1) FRONT BUMPER and REAR BUMPER (I have Mark 2 bumpers, painted black)

2) REAR CONICAL TAIL LIGHTS

3) ORIGINAL SU CARBURETOR

4) ORIGINAL AIR FILTER ("Made in England with patent #'s )

5) MANIFOLD TO FIT SU CARBURETOR (Side inlet manifold)

6) 2 FRONT "D" GRILL PARKING LIGHTS

7) 4 SMALL CHROME BARS FOR THE FRONT GRILL

8) One 4" SMALL TRIM BETWEEN THE HEAD LIGHT AND THE PARKING LIGHT

9) SU FUEL TANK FLOAT (The mechanic has replaced it with a local make)

10) NEED DETAILS ON THE ORIGINAL PAINT AND UPHOLSTERY WHEN IT LEFT FACTORY

11) THE INNER LIGHT SWITCH TYPE AND LOCATION

12) INNER LIGHT DOME' s LOCATION AND TYPE

13) THE REAR CIRCULAR LIGHTS BOTH BRAKE AND INDICATOR CONE TYPE LIGHTS.

14)I NEED PHOTOS OF ORIGNAL ENGINE BAY TO CHECK LOCATION OF DECALS AND CUT OUT LOCATIONS

15) I NEED PHOTOS OF ORIGINAL UPHOLSTERY PATTERN

WHAT I HAVE ON THE CAR WHICH IS ORIGINAL

1) THE ORIGINAL ENGINE (with original 42,000+ MILES not KM) OHV

2) THE SMITH GUAGES (ALL OF THEM)
a) SPEEDOMETER WITH MPH
b) The CLOCK (needs to be repaired)
c) The QUARTER PANEL (Ammeter which works,Fuel Guage, Works, Oil Pressure disconnected, High beam indicator disconnected)

3) The PULL SWITCHES (I dunno what to call them)
a) STARTER (works)
b) PARKING LIGHTS(Works)
c) CHOKE (Disconnected)
d) WIPER(Works)

4) The Center CIRCULAR Ignition SWITCH (where i put the Key) (WORKS)

Regards,
Naren

Air filter housing you have now is from Fiat. Bumpers are from mark II. It may be difficult to source a Mark I bumper set (as your second link). Best option is Mallik Bazaar of Kolkata. You need to really hunt there though.

Hi Rudra,
I have told a few folks in the Gujari in Shivajinagar for the parts.
Surprisingly i located a SU Carburetor yesterday however it wasn't the one that my car had. i do plan on going to Calcutta and will look for the parts there. I have very fond memories of this car..the family trips... and i learn't my car driving (i would take the car out when my father was out of town) when i was in my 6th Standard
I would be grateful if i can find original parts !!!!
