just got hold of a chevy belair from pune so really excited about that,
sorry cant post pics cause im on the ship sailing till november.
and i owe u a tour karl , as soon as im back
Your Rolls got hit by a peoples car? How degrading. You should have chosen something higher up the ranks Fortunately without bumpers the car couldnt have caused too much damage to the Rolls.

What have you done with the original wheels? Im short of 2 wheels still, running on borrowed wheels for the moment. And tell me more of this Bel Air from Pune that I seem to have missed! And yes, still waiting for that promised tour.

Silly question. Of course you must.

Well I am not a beetle expert, but check the bonnet of GDL. its quite different from others.

Yup, that car has been modified by Baretto with his trademark signature. Many cars in Goa sport these changes. Suffice to say Im not a fan!

A couple more genuine convertibles. The yellow car is in Goa, typically messed with. The red car is apparently flawless, posted by Ajmat in another thread.

I truly salute the passion of members on this thread. There is a black phantom next to the beetle in post #15, but nobody even bothers about that.

Way to go. I have some pics of a Beetle belonging to a industrialist - car collector in Cochin, Shall post them.

Possibly another genuine convertible? Courtesy Harit.

Hi Karl,

Another Beetle convertible. This picture is a teaser. Is it original or not? There are clues in the picture, could be misleading.

Ha ha..

Nice, Yes its a converted convertible.

Look at the pillars and the lines on the body, Its for sure not the original Convertible.

Appreciate for the thought put to make it a convertible, seems to be an old picture, wonder how's the car doing now.

Can you elaborate which lines and pillars tell you it is chopped? It looks genuine to me.

The chopped roof along the wall indicates that some car has been converted into a convertible - though perhaps not the red.

Ofcourse she's a genuine cabriolet. I'd be very surprised if she isn't, because that would mean a very careful replacement of a particular tell-tale part that only comes with the cabriolets.

Yes and another object in that region. I'm sure someone will point it out soon for us.

Some comments from Harit,

Quote:
One pending matter. The Beetle is a convertible, genuine. I have learnt on BHP that one should look at all the corners and background of a picture. So while scanning the picture, I looked, saw the Beetle roof and commented on that. Just to mislead.
Anyone who used to do car spotting in the 1970's and 1980's may remember the Beetle convertible lying in a building on Ridge Road in Mumbay, just where Napean Road and Mount Pleasant Road meet Ridge Road. This car was bought by my friend, he did it up, went to USA to study, while studying brought a lot of accessories, went back, packed her up in plastic covers. Unfortunately the rot set in deep, then she has been put for restoration moving from place to place. About 12 uyears have passed and now she will be back sometime, this time in blue. So she is the same car now lying with...................remeber blue! AND not for sale, likely never because the next gen is interested.
