This car came with a 4.20 litre engine and has 3 carbs. The car is a gas guzzler and has dual fuel tanks . Please notice that on the rear on both sides there are enclosed fuel ports for fueling.
Thanks for the added information, KPS; that was indeed interesting !! Is the Jag 420G by default so low slung or is this a particular issue in this restoration? Also what was the max. speed that you were able to manage from yours?

Many years ago Mr. Ramesh Thakker had open his garage on Mangaldas road to the public for a few days. I remember seeing a Mk VII under restoration (in primer) there.

That car is an American import- from sometime in the mid 'Nineties.

The other Jag E-Type in Pune (MH 12 BA 6073) is also an American import. Early 'Nineties.

These Jag's never ran that well- but are full of character.

Re: Post-war Jaguars in India

These are simply superb! I wonder how any of the E types were imported into India. After all they do not fall under the pre 1950 rule. This has been my dream car since I was a kid. Wish I could own a V12!

We had a similar car about 10 years back.

This is actually the smaller 420s which replaced the S-type, also sold as the Daimler 420 Sovereign.

This is a mk10 owned by a friend of mine for comparison. These are a much wider and more substantial car.

The mk10 and 420g are hard to tell apart, but if you look on the front wing, a 420g has a side repeater indicator and a mk10 does not.

I am an owner of an "almost" original Jaguar 1.5 liter similar to this one. I cannot believe my eyes. The quality of restoration is beyond belief. Only one minor observation - The head lights have been swapped at the time of refit. The one on the right has to go to the left and vice versa. Certainly I have a great respect for Rajiv Auto center. They REALLY know their business. Hats off
