How many such 1954 Dodge Convertibles survive? We have in this Forum 3 cars which I can recollect
  1. MEB 6542, Bangalore-Mysore-Jaipur-Mumbai
  2. MYB 1, Ex- Karnataka Raj Bhavan, now Dharmasthala
  3. GJA 3151, Now in Delhi

My Dad recollects seeing one excellent runner in Kolkatta which had dual colours. Any details of this car?

Cheers

The Raj Bhavan car is MYB 3, not 1.

There are three similar cars in Delhi, all WBD regd, one black and one maroon Dodge, and one green DeSoto. Maybe one of those is what you refer to.

Thanks Karl & Salman for the details.

There is also one more WB car in Chennai under restoration for many years. I wonder what happened to that car. There was another TN registered car in Bangalore 10 years back which I am trying to locate. Most of the survivors seem to be WB cars.

There is one with Deogarh palace I think used as heritage taxi, I think TN registered.

There was one MRA dark blue cabrio in Pune, I attended one rally in that car, though now sold. Thakral collection has a pink MP regd. car. I'm sure there are many many more.

Please note that there are three different versions, Dodge, Plymouth and DeSoto. I like the DeSoto version the best. Differences are only cosmetic. All these convertibles were imported, and are Left Hand Drive.
I estimate that there are atleast 50 survivors in India of all the three models.
Thakral car is a DeSoto. Ghosh restored one which went to Orissa. There were two with Bahadur. Pune had a red Plymouth. There is a yellow one in Mumbai with continental kit. Jasdanwalla and Cama each have one. Another one was restored in Vashi.
A white ex-filmwalla car was picked up from Mumbai and taken to Bangalore? by one Manish.
Better would be if pics were compiled here.

Cheers harit

Yup, same green car. I think dieselised, floor shift. I wonder if the blue car is the same MRA car that was earlier in Pune.

In Bombay there is also a nice dark green DeSoto, I'm told single owner, BML 19xx registered. Then I have seen one BML 41xx white Plymouth. Jasdanwala collection has a nice maroon and black PLymouth, BML 54xx.

There was another dodge convertible being restored at a garage owned by the Mustang fellow at Santacruz Bandh about five years ago, any idea where that car is today?

re: 1954 Dodge, Plymouth and Desoto

One thing common I noticed that all the1954 Dodge Cars have completely faded DODGE Hood Ornaments. These are plastic with a metal rear and are very rare as only in 1954 they had the word DODGE lettering in the same.

Please find attached the pictures of the one which will go into my car. I searched for all almost 18 months before I got this one

Please post more pictures of the car including some before restoration. The missing trims must be done as they make a big difference

After the tinker from Kolkatta disappeared, and with the shifting of the garage, we have not re-starred the work. The first round of tinkering is complete.

Cheers
