Datsun 140 J in pune

Spotted this fantastic original Datsun 140 J in pune. Karl, can you throw more light on her? Also, the more I stay in pune, the more classics I see.

Cyrus. This is a wonderful find.Back in 80s,Datsuns were a rage in Hyderabad as they were exclusivly imported by ICRISAT (International Crop Research Institute for Semi Arid Tropics), in Hyderabad.Their Favourite colour was light yellow.
It amazingly has the same shape as my Toyota Corolla.

Nice looking piece ! Datsuns bring back memories from my childhood.

We used to look at them in awe - only the rich could afford to buy Datsuns, especially the 280 C which was the top end (?) model.

My favourite is the Nissan Blue Birds, I know a person who has all the series inc a saloon brought from ICRISAT auction. The DATSUNS your are talking about are very sturdy I've see few where the chrome bumbers are badly shapedout and about to fall, rear doors missing the tub is full of dents but still carry good load. By the way there is one lying at a garage probably use of election campaing with those irratic rods around may be for sale i guess.

Re: Datsun 140 J in pune

I've been feeling nostalgic ever since I read the news that DATSUN plans to launch models in India sometime in 2014. And then, I found this thread that exists on TBHP.

The 140J is so close to my heart, that I can almost say I was born in one. Dug up some shelved pics of me as a 2yr old and our first family car, a DATSUN 140J.

And, yeah, also managed to find an old pic of dad with the woman in his life before he got married to mom, a Mitsubishi Sapporo. (Err, let me be more precise here, the woman I'm referring to over here is the Sapporo herself).

Need to get hold of a scanner before all these pics die of age.
