Harith.

There was a off white / light cream coloured La Salle convertible from the thirties that was taken to Mumbai form Hyderabad. I saw it while it was being loaded into a truck in Secunderabad.

This car didn't have any engine in it.

Do you know anything about its whereabouts now ??

I believe they guy in the back seat of the La Salle wearing that natty cap is Farid C.

Sure, a 1937 LaSalle convertible came from Indore to Hyderabad and now near Mumbai slowly going into the ground as owner lost interest but will not part. This may have been in the second half of 1990's

Harit is this Ghulam Haidar uncle's car (the person from whom you bought the Packard?)

The other LaSalle which was in great shape was a 39 convertible with the Choudhary family which i think went into the Bhogilal collection

And become the Al Capone of India?

Once I get a scanner I should post pictures of the actor Ajit we had dressed up as a Don and two Somali babes for arm candy and a cousin, friend, and myself dressed as henchmen with APX 110. What a riot we had that day

LaSalle with India Customs

While we are on the subject of LaSalles, came across this picture (courtesy of Govt. of India Customs Dept). The car was confiscated in a drug haul, if I remember right. Unfortunately, I cannot find the website anymore!

The website said "1935" - think it is an earlier car.

Thanks for sharing pictures of the LaSalle in Calcutta. I vaguely remember a rumble seat coupe that used to appear in Delhi (or Calcutta) shows. Haven't seen that car in ages.

This is the same car I was speaking of. Ali Hyder / Gulam Hyder car.
So their Packard is with Harith huh.

Was not the costume dress day with Ajit and APX 110 at the Krishna Oberoi car show way back. I do remeber it vividy. Rashid Bhai had a few of his cars there too. In fact it was the last ever outing for the Jag roadster. it overheated and didn't finish the course. His Lincoln V12, the Ford V8 and a certain Yellow Buick convertible were also present at the event.

There was also a ice blue Healey at the event from Bombay that blew my mind. Any idea who's car it was or where it is today.

I always repeat and repeat "I am glad to be on this site"
This is a lovely pic. I never knew about this car in the customs. Someone could start a thread on cars caught up in Indian customs and a second on cars smuggled out. No doubt some car stories would be relevant to different threads.
I did a bit of asking around. It seems that this car was caught in the 1960's or 70's when export ban was not in place. Probably 1930. But where is she now? Could have been a 7 seater.
There was 1954 or so Lincoln convertible in Mumbai customs caught again for having drugs hidden in compartments.
Pranlals Hispano was also with customs. And many more. Lets hear about them.

Harit you may wish to consider including the above statement in your signature.

That way it just might lure some other senior enthusiasts to the forum

DKG, Thank you for sending the link on your La Salle. She seems to be in good caring hands.

Could any one of you provide information on this particular 1908 Singer ? Would be grateful.

Vintage Point 5,
Give me a couple of days for posting the photographs of the Morris 8 Series E. Have been travelling. Sorry for the delay.

Cheers!! Farid.

I'm not sure what happened to said car but what I am sure about is that it was not the first front wheel drive car in the world.

The first practical front wheel drive car was a Miller 122 race car in 1924. The first commercially succesfull front wheel drive car was the DKW F1 form 1931
