I remember seeing the Delhi Delage D8 although cannot recollect where... Any idea who the owner is ?

Also, I think the Bangalore Delage is the ex-Holkar car.

Here is the ex-Holkar / Indore Delage D8 in Bangalore (sorry haven't recorded source - maybe Brian Z. Keefe). One of our distinguished BHP-ians also has pre-restoration pictures if I remember.
Car is complete with Lalique hood ornament!

Thanks for the link Karlos! The first picture is Maharani Gayatri Devi's Bentley, the second is the Wankaner Riley (also in the Barwani book) and the third is obviously the Jodhpur Delahaye.

G'day all,

There are three surviving Delahaye cars featuring Figoni & Falaschi coachwork in India I believe;

Chassis #49150 is a Type 135 with all-enveloping bodywork (body #701) in a style known as the "Geo Ham" after the artist who penned the lines. Was originally painted red and delivered to Jourde of Bombay in 1938. Many years later it was restored in England (with a different headlamp arrangement) and is now painted metallic blue. Peter Mullin of California owns it today and the car will be on display in his new museum in Oxnard, opening April 2010.

Chassis #60217 is a second Type 135 with full enclosed bodywork similar to the car above (body #755), delivered in France in 1939 but sold to India before the war. This is the Jodhpur car now thankfully restored.

Finally, there is chassis #815036, a Type 175 which has a larger 4.5 litre engine, delivered new in 1949 to the Maharajah of Mysore with F&F fixed-head coupe bodywork. Later in the UK with Elton John. Sadly, the car was cut down by English dealers Straight Eight Ltd to make a drophead and in this form it spent time in the Imperial Palace Auto Collection in Las Vegas. Today the car can be found in the Petersen Automotive Museum in Las Angeles.

The other cars mentioned in the thread include;

The 1932 Rolls-Royce Phantom II chassis #2MS, originally built with Windovers Saloon bodywork and rebodied by F&F circa 1937. Was in the Blackhawk Collection and I personally saw the car in Don Williams warehouse in Danville in September 2001.

The 1937 Talbot Lago Type 150 SS chassis #90107, with Faux Cabriolet bodywork in the 'Goutte d'Eau' style (body #665) built for the Maharajah of Khapurthala. This car was donated (in controversial circumstances) by Lindley Locke's estate to the Nethercutt Collection in San Sylmar, California and is a regular on the show circuit in America. I saw the car in the museum last year fresh from Pebble Beach.

Cheers,
Damien

Does anyone have pictures of the Ram Chander Nath collection Delage (DLF-565), preferably one showing the complete car ? (There are some pictures on the VCCCP website). I have a suspicion that this may be the ex-Jaipur Figoni et Falaschi car. Cheers

There is a picture posted by Speedy in the Daimler 6-30 and Hispano H6B thread (post # 28) - shown below (please click to view, cant get it to show):

YouTube - The Fall trailer

The Fall has a couple of shots of what I think is Jodhpur 34. Beautiful scenes throughout the film and I highly recommended it. Skip to 0:42 for a glimpse of the car.

So, the story that the Maharanee of Kapurthala's Talbot Lago used to change colours depending on the dress she was wearing to a concours is probably true!

Compare her dress to the colour of the wings in the pictures below:

and mix 'n' match once in a while......(this picture is dated June, 1938)

The second Delahaye 135 Geo Ham roadster from India bodied by Figoni Falaschi took top honours at the inaugural Chantilly concours near Paris last week.

Here are the pictures of Doc's car the Ex-Holkar D8. This is the current condition of the car. Though I had posted some these pictures earlier, I thought they deserve to be recorded in the thread too.

KPS

Today I found something that really surprised me. While browsing through the legendary film 'Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi' looking for interesting cars, I was keenly watching the race scene towards the end of the movie, where the humble Model A Ford Tourer optimistically takes on the latest American iron. A couple of times for a split second if one keeps a very keen eye we can spot a real surprise. Blink and you miss it, so I am sharing screen shots. The car hopefully needs no introduction:)

It can be nothing else...

I would say 99.9% it is the surviving Jodhpur car, but there is always that niggling doubt that it could be the other car which went out subsequently and today in the Mullin collection.

EDIT - on closer inspection the car appears to have the disappearing top style (can't say for sure, but seems that way). So even more likely to be the current Jodhpur car, Chassis #60217
