Re: Figoni et Falaschi Cars in India

The Ex-Holkar Delage D8, currently owned by Doc, re-visited Paris after 86 years. Here are some great pictures from Paris, where the car was participation in the FIVA's 50th Year Celebrations.

Re: Figoni et Falaschi Cars in India

Here is some great new information. Out of the blue, there was a discussion in the KVCCC Group of a Delahaye in Bangalore. This was owned by a rich coffee planter, Mr. Gopal Shetty. One of our members Kedarnath Swamy, happens to known the family and has dug out a picture and has given me permission to post the same here.

Picture taken in 1960's at Bangalore, shows a Madras registered (MSW) Geo Ham Delahaye 135, which is now speculated to be the Peter Mullin car! The car was red in colour.

This is great new information and should be of much help to people interested in automotive history. Thanks Kedar

Cheers

As far as I know the Mullin car is a 165 and there are many, many differences in the look of the rear of the car...

Chassis 49150 "Star of India"

The Mullin Collection has a 165, 135 (Chassis 49150) as well as multiple 145's. The "India" 135 was also at Retromobile, 2014.

Take the "Star of India" description with a mountain of salt. The Rajkot PII had the same moniker.

Sources in the know say the first Maharaja owner of 49150 was Nawanagar, followed by Jaipur. However, every history of the car has a different twist.

Many (including Mullin) have chosen to throw a horribly mis-spelt "Hyderabad Prince" in the mix. If it were indeed a Berar car, it would likely have been Azam Jah who bought it from Jourde; and not his son.

It's a pity that the instruments have an incorrect shape. They should not be round.

Anyway, someone knows the chassis number of this car?

Nice any idea where those plates would have been issues, the car looks to be in India in the black and white pics but it doesn't seem to be an Indian reg number

The Red Delahaye in India used to belong to the Paigah Family of Hyd not the Nizam's family, Mohammed Jung has shared period pictures of it in Hyderabad
Thoughts are that the Mullins Delahaye 135 was possibly Ex Mysore
