1928 Ford Model A

Yesterday while driving on A.S.Gaya marg southbound in Mahim,
I spotted this 1928 Ford Model "A" Chalti-ka-naam-gaadi !

It had pulled in to the petrol pump [19.035218N, 72.8425902E]
opp. Victoria High School in Mahim.

The period-type nitrocellulose enamel didn't have the modern gleam of acrylic paint, yet looked graceful and very much in place.

The happy owner gave his name as Rasool.

Ram that car stands with many more classics, some of which were featured on the forum as well. The Ford can be seen here.

Karl :
  1. How many Ford Model A cars would you say, still survive in running condition in India?
  2. Do you know the owner of this car?
  3. How can you be sure it is the same car? After all iraghava who photographed it hails from the NCR. And the number plate in his photographs has been obfuscated.

Ram, the owner in concern is V-16's good friend and the car that iraghava pictured is in Bombay. New Bombay to be precise. His posts do mention the same.

Two Model A's featured here. The black one is from 1929 and is with the family since three to four generations. They still retain the original bill of around Rs 2900 paid for the car then from the Ford dealer at Nagpur. But its a sin that the Govt of MP commits by changing the registration numbers every now and then. The car has been a victim of the frequent number changes though it had a original valid Central Provinces registration. The Govt of Chhattisgarh also does such unpardonable acts. Kudos to the Govt of Maharashtra that allows us to retain all older numbers as they were.
