Friends,

Here is some of pics of my 1940 Standard Flying 8 restoration works.
The floor work and brakes were done, body work also almost done.

Still facing the problem with front grill and I have made a replica and used steel rod to make the grill and it will be used till I get the original.

So as the head lamps, its been buggered by the previous owners. I got a pair of Lucas King of the road in UK with my friend, but I cannot have it now as he will be bringing later this year.

Planning to go for Jet Black exterior and red interior with black floor mat and Khaki hood.

I have only 3 hub caps, rest will be done by an denter from Coimbatore.

The trafficator was missing and the hole was closed by the previous owner. I got a pair of trafficator from UK and the hole behind the rear door was made and hopefully the trafficator works as required....

Sorry for some bad quality photo's taken from my mobile

Wow, nice to see the work progressing on your car, girish!

I would suggest you get the existing paint fully scraped down to bare-metal and even open up the suspension etc. as well and have a little anti-rust coating done on the chassis.

Also the steering wheel on your car looks like it's from a '50s standard 8/10?

Yes Stanher....the steering wheel looks like from later model, also trying to get one from UK.

Yes, almost all old paint were scrapped out, still some to be done, will let my mechanics know about anti-rust coat to be applied.

Have to get everything done before the 25th for the rally on 26th Jan :)

thanks

The front grill is almost ready, seats are ready, bottom anti rust painting is going on, floor mat also getting ready...

Car is almost ready, all electrical job's were done, Trafficator installed and working fine.

Good to see that the work is progressing fast. But is the roof of the original dimension?? Seems a lil too high from the rear.

Thanks JayD,

The hood is not as per original specs, I am trying to source the original size and specs....hope it will be done soon....for the moment, I am using the old one.

Any help will be appreciated.

Today the car has been delivered to my home. It runs very smoothly and very fun to drive.

Congrats girishpv, good job done. Its come out quite well considering the state it was in. Its quite an achievement. All the best !

Congratulations on having an early Standard restored. I suggest you paint the wheels black as well as per original, if Im not mistaken. The interiors look great. ou could also source a Morris Minor steering wheel which would look more correct.

Wow Girish well done! The Standard 8 is done up neatly. Good looks. The wheel rims need hubcaps and black paint. Also if you can get white wall tyres it will add to the period looks. Meanwhile lets hope you get a hood with original specs.

Thanks Dussey, Karl and Anjan....

I am trying to find out morris minor / standard steering wheel.
I got 3 hub caps and 2 more were done by an denter from Coimbatore.

Will post more pics ASAP

That's Karl.....THANKS, I already had tried to convince my mechanics about this....but for some reason, it did not happened. Will start working on it ASAP.
I am facing some problems with the clutch...it won't release at right time, resulting engine shutting off or not engaging the gears. My mechanics will work on it again.

regards
