Guys, any idea where to hunt for motocross boots in Bangalore? I am competing in Dakshin Dare, so need it & I have all others like riding gloves, helmet, body armour with elbow guard, knee guard.

My budget for the motocross/offroad boots is between 6-8k. I just need a basic model with good protection.

I bumped across street/track racing boots (make:Outstars), offered at 6.8k after discount at a shop at JC Road/Siddaiah Road Signal Junction!

$70 for the Joe Rocket is a steal. :Shockked:Just pick it up soon. Its a pretty well known brand. DSG is pretty good too but IMHO comparing the two, Joe Rocket would be better in terms of quality and protection. Just ensure you get the sizing right. Every brand has its own sizing chart so use that before you buy. It is very important to have your riding gear in the correct size.

I have a cramster Raptor and have removed the inner thermal lining and use it even now when its hot in the day. I dont get cooked unless i stop at a traffic light. When on the move the air vents do their job well so you dont feel any discomfort. :)

Hey this Joe Rocket doesn't have a warm liner, though this one has:

Tour Master Jett Series 2 Textile Motorcycle Jacket :: New Enough

However the shipping charges are more than the jacket price itself, around $ 75.

Sizing chart that these sites come up are really very strange.
I am 5'9,77 kgs,chest 40,sleeve (including shoulders is 31)
no such match is prevalent, however I guess a medium would be good.

Your comments most welcome.

Visit the Orion Motors (Yamaha Showroom) behind Big Bazaar and you will find an appreciable range of riding gear like boots, helmets etc.

Can't comment on the sizing chart but keep in mind that warm lining is only necessary while riding in extreme cold weather. Delhi does get cold in winters and if you ride in that weather, pick up the one with the warm liner.

Shipping prices are expensive dude. Its being shipped halfway across the earth and with insurance in most cases.

All the best and keep us posted on the purchase.:thumbs up

Hi guys,
i got my jacket custom made from a leather factory in Mumbai . they had a special deal for the rider mania 2010 participants. it is made of pure elpaso cow leather treated with scotch guard and made of something that they call cool leather. Supposedly keeps you warm in summer and cold in winter ! modern day climate control
But have been riding with it for the last 1 month and find it really good. has proper padding at all the right places, has a spine protector etc. Its a really heavy piece , but very very comfortable.
the factory took measurements and custom fitted the jacket for me. i have uploaded a very bad pic for now. will follow up with better pics asap.

my helmet is the new joe rocket stain series . excellent lid, very very low whistling and am thinking of adding the cardo bluetooth system to this, mainly to listen to music while riding. your comments please

Yeah, they are really good enough, with solid knuckle guard & palm end hard pad. I got it from,

Gold Wings (Mr. Syed)
No23, Lalbagh Fort Road, Near Mavalli Mosque, B -560004
9945937825, 9620115372, 41203822.

I am also told another shop/outlet Thirumala is better priced, which is a few tens of meters after this towards Minerva Circle 'Gold Wings'. Check this place out before you get in touch with Gold Wings.

Guys, I got a good cross helmet from Balaji Helmet Palace in Lalbagh Road from the most popular & reliable helmet maker STUDDS 'Motocross Devil' for INR 1600/- inclusive of a standard type visor (which I infact removed as it was reflecting/glaring light from odd directions). My size was 58cms & got the same size which 'Fits like a mold'.

I also got a good motocross type goggles from one of the shop (forgot the name, it is next to the shop named Motocross) at Arumugam Mudaliar Road for INR 550/-. The same goggles was quoted900/- at Motocross. Couple of pics of today's buy!

I have just purchased my first (semi) serious biking gear. Till date I used a
- Vega matt black Helmet (still using it)
- A pair of gloves from Funky - Bandra (Rs. 500/-)
- Regular jacket (Rs 1000/- types)

I just upgraded to
- Probiker gloves (Rs 1200/-)
- FOX Knee and Elbow guards. (Rs. 750) Not too happy with it, but thats all they had.
(Both purchased from Champion Sports, Aundh, Pune)

Below are the pictures (from net, identical model) I have still not learnt how to insert statements between images stupid:

Which of the two is better?
I have no clue about riding gear. I just use a leather jacket and a pair of leather gloves. Please guide me.

The first one, despite not having the warm liner is priced more. There is a very good difference in the MSRPs of these two. Can anyone decipher all that technical jargon. Yeah I am interested in the later too as it comes with a removable to warm liner. I have a leather jacket which makes me sweat even in the peak winters in Hyderabad, so the second does make sense to me. But I would like to know where is the compromise.

Shipping is not an issue for me, as I can ship them to my sis's address in USA!! The standard ground shipping coming to around $13. The total is coming to around $80. Is there any other options better than this brand of jacket for $80 which I can get from US?

Also can any one point me to similar good deals for gloves(The current leather ones require good deal of repairs!)??? :D

I dont see why it's an issue. This is helpful to customers and members who want to make an informed purchase.

By the way, i got my jacket exchanged within 3 weeks of purchase. Even the new jacket which i got (as exchange) had the velcro strips on the sleeves coming off on the first use itself. Pointed this out to the store guy at the time of the exchange that the stitches on the velcro were almost non existent and he just asked me to stitch over it again. :Frustrati Even the gloves which i saw at the store were pathetic.

I'll never recommend Cramster to anyone. I bought stuff like tankpads and gloves from DSG and they are fantastic. Quality and customer service is very good and highly recommended over cramster. :thumbs up

Bought a new lid to celebrate 20,500KM of riding on my NSR. an Arai RX-7 Corsair V Nakano Sakura.

^ Nice buy!
Does the new helmet have a reduced co-efficient of drag?
