Global NCAP’s First Five Star Car In India: The Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon scored five stars for Adult Occupant Protection and three stars for Child Occupant Protection. Following the Nexon’s four star result earlier this year, Tata has improved a number of safety features including making a Seat Belt Reminder (SBR) for driver and passenger a standard for all variants of the model. In addition the Nexon was required to pass a side impact test meeting UN95 side impact protection requirements.

Amazing achievement for Tata! Looks like they went back to drawing board after getting 4 star rating to make changes to the car. Will there be a summary of what exactly changed in the car which brought about this increase in rating?

The 5 Star rated Nexon is applicable to units produced from December 7th.

Nexon first ever India made car to score 5 stars in global NCAP.

What a proud moment for us! Nexon is now not only the safest car in its segment but also the least expensive.

Tata, as a group, has always put people first and profits second. I remember when several years back I was doing an internship in Jamshedpur at Tata Steel, one of their senior leaders visited us in our hostel and asked if we were facing any problems. We told cheekily that it was really hot in the hostel. Next day, each room was fixed with an air conditioner!

If I remember correctly, Tatas were the first ones to introduce maternity leave in India.

I may be going off topic now but I just want to stress on the point of how Tata has been the pioneer of 'people over money' philosophy and this first ever 5 stars safety rating just reinforces their vision and I respect them for that.

One company that I don't respect is Maruti. With 50% market share, they are responsible for the safety of the cars in which half of the car owners of India travel and they don't give a damn!

Tata Nexon - Global NCAP’s First Five Star Indian car - Posts moved to a new thread.

Kudos TATA. You make us proud.
India being the bread and butter market of Suzuki, they didn't care about Indian's safety, putting the onus on regulations. Hope this will make things change.

Wow! Kudos to Tata.
Really appreciate that they did not just sit back & relax after the earlier test that gave 4-star rating clap:

Nice to know that atleast one carmaker seriously cares for Indian lives.

Your move, Market leaders #1 and #2

wow, TATA is on a roll! Great effort by an Indian manufacturer. Highly appreciate and congratulate TATA's effort here for not settling just on a 4 and being the first 5 star Indian Car. Time for the marketing team to showcase this prominently; which would make sure other manufacturers follow suit.

This is interesting. Also on a related note, https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...-new-cars.html

The thread above got a lot of flack and deservedly so but one of the reasons for the features deletion was to get the Nexon to 5 star certification. So the loss of minor features was at the cost of safety. They had to add components for safety and hence had to remove some so as to not increase the price.

This point can be argued but that's the way it is.

Because Maruti believes that making a car safe will make people drive them fast thinking they would be safe and create more accidents. You should note that Maruti is against accidents. They believe any Maruti car is safer than a scooter, hence all their cars are safe. stupid:

Brilliant! Great job Tata – this is a step in the right direction. This may not translate into huge sales volume but from a manufacturer responsibility point of view this is a great feat! :thumbs up

I am really impressed with the way TATA is following. The first 5 star car in terms of safety is a landmark for Indian Automobile industry. This is even from a manufacturer who has a sales ranking of 3 or 4. Other companies will sooner or later be forced to follow TATA. This credibility should be marketed properly. Best wishes TATA. Hope, Harrier will get better score than 16.1.

Very very commendable job by Tata motors.
I just wish they launch Nexon with 6 airbags in it's new iteration.
