Great going Mahindra. clap: I was expecting a good rating for the XUV3OO as it's a shortened Tivoli which had scored 4 stars in Euro NCAP which is more stringent and also takes into account various passive safety measures. I would like to see a similar test for current XUV5OO, Ecosport and Venue for the time being by Global NCAP.

Time for other manufacturers to up the ante and perform.

I was surprised for a minute, but realisation dawned that after all it's a Ssangyong Tivoli. Nevertheless it is good to know that Mahindra haven't de-engineered the car to make it a XUV 300.

Just to add,
The Variant tested here is the 2 Airbag version.
Theoretically, the 7 Airbag version could have got an even better result.

Wow, this makes XUV300 the most safest car in India, what is more commendable is the child safety score. Kudos Mahindra.

Not surprised with XUV300. It's not a home-grown model, but from Ssongyang, isnt it ? While this good for the customers, I am waiting for Mahindra to get this rating for the other models in it's line-up.

Great news for Indian car buyers. Kudos to Mahindra & Mahindra for putting safety on priority. Global NCAP was done on two airbags variant of XUV3OO and top end variants with 7 airbags might perform even better clap:

Hope other Indian car manufacturers (Tata Motors is already doing) also put emphasis on safety more than fuel efficiency and as customers we must start asking "kitna star hai".

This was expected since XUV300 is based on Tivoli, nonetheless excellent news and congratulations to Mahindra.
Such reports coming back to back will creat good awareness among masses and put pressure on other manufacturers.

Good news for all of us who know that Indian brands like Tata and Mahindra are more capable than some brands which focus on other not-so-important factors such as fuel economy and light build (just for the sake that their cars feel more zippier in cities!).

It is high time that the market leader should understand the importance of safety and stop making lightweight cars just for their own profits.

Excellent news!

And for the first time, we have a car with 5-star rating and the choice of seven airbags. clap:

Mahindra should have gone ahead and got it tested during launch just like TATA seems to have done with the Altroz. Unfortunately for me, I cancelled my XUV 3OO booking once they announced the prices - but if this rating was available back then - XUV would have replaced the Punto in my garage.

Now hoping to see good results for future Mahindra products - including the upcoming new Thar. Show the Wrangler how it's done, Mahindra. :D

There is much difference between TATA and Mahindra crash test report. Whereas for TATA both cars Nexon and Altroz are developed in the India itself whereas XUV300 platform is completely imported from SsangYong Tivoli (Korean engineering).

It is not an feat of Mahindra's homegrown engineering itself but for TATA yes. I will eagerly wait if Mahindra can do crash test of Scorpio, XUV500, TUV, KUV and whatever :).

Sangyong Tivoli 2016 Crash Test Rating.

Quote:

The rating for the SsangYong Tivoli was first published in 2016. At that time, autonomous emergency braking was sold as an option, as part of a safety pack, and Euro NCAP published two ratings: one with only standard equipment and another with the safety pack. Since February 2018, the content of the safety pack - AEB City, AEB Inter-urban and AEB Pedestrian - has been made standard equipment and the rating has been changed to reflect this change.
From good 4 star to a brilliant 5 star. Not much of effort compared to the Altroz or Nexon which are built ground up.

Wow Mahindra!

First the Marazzo and now the XUV300, though this time, the credit has to go to Ssangyong. Still, Mahindra brought it here and kudos for that. I guess the slight overpricing is justified now.

If MSIL was a person, he would feel mighty embarrassed. Come on Maruti, follow Tata and Mahindra, they have less than 5% of your market share, and still strive to improve in crucial aspects of the car.

I wish Mahindra pulls the plug on the 0 star embarrassment - the scorpio. But again, when Maruti can thrive on selling 0 stars, why shouldn't Mahindra?

Take a bow, Mahindra. Take a bow clap:. First Tata, and now Mahindra. The Indian manufacturers are leading the way. Now will the Japanese & Koreans FINALLY take note?

From our XUV300 Official Review :thumbs up

It also obtained a 4-star rating in crash tests conducted by the Euro NCAP in 2016. Anand Mahindra had publicly congratulated Tata for the Nexon's 5-star safety rating & we think Mahindra will be gunning for the same with the XUV300.

Could the mods perhaps update the XUV3OO thread to reflect this safety score.

Kudos to Mahindra for bringing in another Safe car on to our roads. I wish this decade belongs to our own Indian Manufactures producing safe cars.

Lets not dilute the achievement of Mahindra by attributing XUV300 to SsangYong Tivoli. No doubt they are the same cars. But Mahindra hasn't degraded its strength and core.

Take a bow Mahindra and Tata clap:

The Indian companies, Tata and Mahindra love the country and people and so they are making safe cars for us. But we love Mileage and Resale than Safety.
