Re: VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq score 5 stars in Global NCAP’s updated crash tests

Its quite remarkable that VAG twins scored 5 stars in child protection, i personally feel child safety should be considered as baseline for safety rating. Scoring 5 stars in adult occupancy and 3 stars in child occupancy does not make any car safe. What's more important is that every individual should ensure their children are strapped with appropriate child seats and boosters, without that, these test results mean nothing.

Early Skoda Kushaq Automatics like my car (Style Variant) did not have 6 airbags so not sure if this rating is applicable for those cars too.

Re: VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq score 5 stars in Global NCAP’s updated crash tests

It is a commendable achievement that they were able to score maximum safety rating for both Adults and Child protection,
that too under the new stringent protocols.

So as per theory at least, we cannot directly compare an old protocol based 5 star rated car and Taigun/Kushaq
or the upcoming newer tested vehicles whatever its safety rating be, right?

As of now, the VW twins are the safest Indian made under 20 lakh cars yet, as it seems,
till some other cars are tested and they prove otherwise.

Very happy to know that the German twins have not skimped on structural safety even though they did on interior quality. Korean twins do the other way around

This won’t have any impact on Seltos/Creta customers. Their performance in GNCAP is known even by kids these days thanks to social media. But that never deterred them from buying those. They sell for their other USPs and for folks who look for stable bodyshell, those were never even in consideration. So Seltos/Creta will continue to sell the way they did.

But its good to see we have some 5* cars now in 15-20L range. XUV is too huge for regular city use, that’s where Kushaq/Taigun can be good. Hope skoda/vw sort out the issues soon and these products get the numbers. For now they should market this result heavily and I mean right from newspapers to instagram to TV ADs everything. Nail this news into the daily feeds of every Indian, the way TATA/Mahindra do it

P.S: So now I have some options when I want to upgrade from Jazz CVT to 15L segment.

P.P.S: Toyota/Maruti: Its high time you guys get the Hyryder/G.Vitara tested.

Yup this test makes the twins the safest cars in India under 20 L. The XUV 700 scored 4 stars for Child Occupants and also was tested when the old protocols were in place.

Wow, this is good news, and should provide a lot of momentum to the group.

Wish they also come up with A.S.S. 2.0 to improve the after sales service as well, something that can catapult them in a higher orbital.

Woohoo!! As one of the early Taigun buyers, this makes me feel so much better!

Now, hope VW can fix all the early models' niggles soon enough and not just for newer models.

Re: VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq score 5 stars in Global NCAP’s updated crash tests

Glad to see VAGs have not compromised on the basics - most powerful and engaging engines combined with best ride and handling in the segment, still better build quality and now the safety ratings also. I would gladly trade off slightly inferior interior quality (compared to previous VAGs), lesser features, smaller touchscreens etc for the positives VAG twins have.
I was confident they would score 4*, but this is really impressive. If tested, mostly Slavia and Virtus will score similarly too. Hope to see some increase in their sales, they definitely deserve to sell more.

Re: VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq score 5 stars in Global NCAP’s updated crash tests

I love the fact how all the so called "enthusiasts" who declared VW 2.0 cars as unsafe have now gone underground!
Well, that's VW for you. They might compromise on quality but never on safety!
They also scored 5 stars in child protection under the new, more stringent rules, amazing!!!

The kushaq tested in this video was equipped with two airbags only so IMO the safety rating should be applicable.

Agreed. They'll have to stick to nitpicking things like the roofliner.

Great news for a Kushaq owner. I did buy hoping for at least four star safety, but you can never be sure until it is done. Just clear the AC issues and they should do really well - all four of the 2.0 pack.

Re: VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq score 5 stars in Global NCAP’s updated crash tests

Can be resonably safe to assume a similar result for the SLAVIA / VIRTUS twins.
In fact the sedan siblings may score better marks as they have a longer crush zone.
G-NCAP does not perform rear crash, (luggage intrusion), for India ratings. The sedans should score well on this parameter as well.

Actually shame on us the buyers, for making them the top sellers. We shoot a good game when talking about safety but don't follow up with action.
