Quite a bit of rash driving everywhere including the dash-cammer. Overtaking and then cutting off vehicles in the next lane etc.

Video seems to have been seen by previous commenters, but I am seeing "Private" and can't view.

Politicians do believe they are more important than everyone else. Here, a convoy of 6 vehicles - an XUV 500, an Audi Q3, a Range rover, a bolero and 2 Innovas kept blocking both the lanes of the highway for quite some time. They would not budge beyond 80-90 kmph holding back the traffic behind.

Honestly this irked me as I was running late and when I realised that the highway is going to spread into 6 lanes ahead, I tried overtaking them. They really don't like anyone going ahead of them.

That's the Member of Parliament from the neighbouring district.

This 'convoy' is a joke. The cars are too far apart for it to be of any actual use, really. And they are allowing other vehicles to come in between, so it's not like they're preventing an assassination or something. A real case of someone who saw something "cool" and decided to copy it without understanding the real purpose of a convoy.

That being said, your driving also does look a little...extreme? I can understand you were late, but the lane switching, little gap with other cars, etc. was also dangerous.

Looks like somebody is eager to get into an accident. Should he had given some gap to the lorry, he might have a much better view of the road, without entering it.

They think they're over any normal citizen. I never understand why these political people are always bullying with high beams, horns or in a hurry (in your case 80-90kmph a rarity). Only their cars run fast not their actions. :Frustrati

That road does not support speeds more than 80kmph in my opinion. I understand you were late and getting pissed off by them but you should really consider driving slower than you were.

Regardless, they should let faster vehicles pass them for the safety of everyone. Few months back, I was pushed off the road by a similar convoy of our Dy. CM near the Athur toll plaza near Tindivanam. The entire convoy then did a bit of shoulder riding and off-roading to get to the front of the 1KM toll queue. It’s the VIPs inside the car whose non-action enables and drives these police law breakers.

At this rate we need driver and co-driver to watch out in every direction with an option to do emergency braking :Frustrati . I must say the car driver was quite vigilant and kudos to him.

The lorry which has been parked wrong side of the road is equally at fault.
In fact, bike doesn't seem to be in such urgency. He carefully comes till white line and starts waiting.

But parking lorry in wrong side of the road is the root cause issue here

Absolutely not. Consider: it would still have made a blind turning if it was facing the other way. An obstacle is an obstacle: it is not at fault if someone decides to do something stupid.

The bike should have been far to his left: that would have given him view of the road and the oncoming traffic. Why make a turn into a blind turn when it need not be?

.

Blocking other cars while driving at your own sweet pace is really annoying and absolutely stupid. There's no sound in the video. I suppose you would have also honked at them to signal your intention of overtaking. Sometimes this can further hurt their egos and they would end up blocking.

I have observed similar convoys in rush hour Bangalore traffic, no less! Earlier, all traffic used to be stopped to let these "VIPs" pass on the Airport road. Now that that has been put to an end, they have to traverse through the traffic, and boy do they bully others to make way!

It was a weekday evening rush hour on the Airport road, near Mekhri circle. Bangaloreans would know that there's always congestion here in the evening. And through it all, a convoy of some politician was forging its path, sirens blazing, literally cutting off other cars. They did it to me as well, despite me leaving ample space for them to pass - overtook me from my right and then made a swift maneuver to the left to block me. It was extremely unsafe and dangerous. I had to take corrective action to avoid a fender bender. And imagine this with multiple cars and 2 wheelers side by side in 2 - 2.5 lanes.

It irked me as well but I just calmed myself before I ended up doing anything foolish.

There is something not right about what that person on the bike did, he could easily have been farther away from the truck and taken the turn, it would’ve made it easier for him to see the side you were coming from.

I’m glad you saw him leave the petrol pump and prevented harm to your car and your self clap:, do you think he was doing it intentionally to get a quick buck and / or insurance fraud?

Don't think so. He is just a kid, trying to do things the easier way. If he continues like this, he will learn things the harder way.

Something similar happened to me a long back. Most of the convoy car were driving through the center of the road, including the VVIP.

But what is this two-wheeler lane in this context? I believe it is the shoulder of the road that you are talking about.

I remember an old video where cops from TN made a video talking about the various lanes on the highways.

Ah, found it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnhrvd5ToT0

They mention the shoulder as where two wheeler riders should be driving.

Next time when you find a test drive car with rattles, misaligned steering and wacky handling, remember this video and there are so many idiots who do this to the test drive cars
