Sorry to hear that bglsrini. I too had a bit of misadventure last month on my way to Pondichery. I was lucky enough to escape without getting hurt, but my beast was not that lucky. It is with the TASS for almost a month :Frustrati.

How in the world did you get it in that position?
Climbed the side rail?
Why is it on the wrong side of the road? I mean were you trying to avoid something and ended up like that?
How did you get out? I see your windscreen is still intact.
How many people were travelling? Front ones, I can imagine the seat belts would have helped, but what about the rear ones, if there were any?

Just what I felt would be appropriate.

It was a sharp right turn leading to the bridge, drizzling and a slippery road. A bit of over-steer while avoiding the incoming traffic sent my rear wheels skidding off the road. The mud on road side helped the rear to swing all way to the left and then all effort to control the vehicle went in vain as I saw the bridge. I had no other option other than to enter the bridge at any cost. And in a frantic effort I entered the bridge with the beast running on just 2 wheels and finally toppled.

And now I know its not so hard to tumble this moving bungalow :eek:

THe holy ghost saved you but couldnt save your Safari. Im sure it must have been an extremely hair raising experience. That was a very lucky escape.

Holyghost, please don't mind but I would like to know few more things about this accident.
What was the approx speed when you took the sharp turn(if you remember)?

From the second last pic, it looks as if there was some distance between the right turn and entry to bridge, still you lost control? was it raining at time.

Did you banged the side railing and then toppled or just toppled after skid.

I don't see that bad mud which can lead to this accident by any way,

Something is seriously wrong, otherwise I can not think of safari turning with not such bad condition.

That is a nasty tumble and good that you are safe.

Looks like you were doing an overnight journey and waited till morning for the crane to come up. Did the sharp right turn come up suddenly due to inadequate lighting from the headlamps?

What are the Safari damages that make it now sit over at TASS for a month?

bad experience holyghost. but this just taught you that big SUVs are not meant for high speed cornering and it is always better to slow down till you cant judge a corner properly. anyways, let bygones be bygones! thank god you are safe.
in the second last pic, i can see the sharp turn, but then i dint understand how you vehicle is facing the other side? did it turn a full 180 degree before/after toppling? anyways, i cant imagine how hairy it must have been for you trying to control a SUV from landing under a bridge into the water and then viewing the world at 90 degrees!
anyways, accidents do happen but precautions can be taken. pls drive safe buddy.

No I didn't climb the side rails. When it toppled, the vehicle was across the bridge 90 degrees, blocking the entire traffic. Then people pushed it to the side of the bridge to enable traffic movement. Thats how it reached the wrong side

There were 4 of us, and guess what! No one were wearing seat belt. And by God's grace, no one got hurt too.

The people helped us by lifting the side doors (the top doors in that position) and we all jumped out.

Holyghost: You must really thank your lucky stars that you just ended up on the bridge and not under the bridge. Thank god, you are safe.

now i understand the entire situation. it happened at night or daytime?
atleast now onwards, i hope you start wearing seatbelts.

What was the estimate? Was it coz of excessive speed? And you use blue vision or so?

holyghost mate you cant thank god enough for this. learn something and start wearing seat belt no matter where you are driving. it was your lucky day so you are here. no offense intended dude!!
entire left side is scrapped? any estimate? and what bulbs are you using?
