How to drive in snow | Snow White and the Several Dwarfs

Purpose

The intent of this post is to showcase an exhilarating snow drive video posted by a fellow bhpian. The video contains
a) details of a few preparations before one undertakes such adventures eg. snow chains, winches, lead vehicle to have an off road bumper etc.
b) the thrills and spills of a daring adventure
c) recovery of a vehicle stuck in deep snow

Enjoy the show in the snow !!

Key takeaways from the above video

1. Do not attempt such deep snow drives without prior experience, adequate preparations and capable vehicles
2. Even if experienced, ensure that a majority of cars have winches and other back ups for recovery
3. Before attempting off-roading, join an experienced off-roading group and understand the techniques
4. Go with wheels with a higher aspect ratio
5. Towards the end of the video, the lead car that didn't have an off road bumper struggled in very deep snow, got stuck and had to be recovered with the winch on the Isuzu

The next video, on the other hand shows how one can be caught off guard without preparations for icy roads and snow. Many vehicles are seen struggling on the icy roads. Post 6:40, look at how a hapless Innova Crysta struggles to get out of a situation, and how fellow travellers help. Use of brakes has to be done very judiciously on icy roads.

Re: Driving on Snow - What's the secret?

Does anyone have any feedback on these basic TPU chains? Do they do a good enough job for Indian himalayan conditions on a sedan front 2 wheel drive? No serious snow driving- just sufficient to get to the next safe places in case of unexpected snow.
