Roads to Anantapur and Adoni

Hi Team,

I need to make a road trip (official) one to Anantapur and Adoni in Andhra.

Anyone is aware of the current road conditions?

Re: Roads to Anantapur and Adoni

Its a standard good route. Nh4 till Bangalore is well known.

Bangalore-Anantpur is beautiful 4L.

Anantpur-Gooty is nice 4L again. You have to deviate from Gooty to Adoni. This is 2L decent, broken in at some places.

Bangalore-Mantralayam route will have good updates on it, as it form part of that stretch.

You don't need to go all the way to Bangalore. Madras-Sriperumbudur-Ranipet (deviate toward Chittoor)-Chittoor-Palmaner-Punganuru-Mandapalli-Kadiri-Ananthapur. Anantapur-Adoni is covered as a part of the Mantralaya travelogue ampere has given above.

The Chittoor-Pileru-Madanapalle-Kadiri-Ananthapur road is fantastic but has poor facilities.

Re: Roads to Anantapur and Adoni

How is Mulbagal-Chintamani-Chikballapur (Part of newly christened NH234)? If that section is good, worth taking it. Bypasses Bangalore nicely.

HVK, though roads from Bangalore-Anantpur are very good (4L), but apart from the Kamat at Chikballapur, there are no hotels. But definitely this is more reliable than the Kadiri option.

Re: Roads to Anantapur and Adoni

To bypass Bangalore from NH4 to NH7, I would still prefer the Hoskote-Whitefield-Devanahalli route, even though you may run into some traffic at Whitefield.

Kadiri option means absolutely no facilities, worse than NH7 via Penukonda

Re: Roads to Anantapur and Adoni

Its a difference of 30km, which I think can covered easily on the 4L and BIAL road.
Also note the BIAL preferred over NH207 from Hoskote. That means, come down further on the NH4, cross the Varthur Road (SH35) and with a km one would see the BIAL road turn on the right.

Re: Roads to Anantapur and Adoni

Hi All,

Thanks for the guidance and route updates, the route mentioned by narayan is the one shown in google maps as well, which is 420 KM and the Bangalore on is 558 KM.

I will start the trip mostly this Thursday/Friday, hopefully no rain damages.

Hi Team,

As per the plan i visited Anantapur and Adoni from Chennai by road and till Anantapur like HVK Sir mentioned, road is fantastic, its a 2 lane smooth tarmac from Ranipet (till here NH4). Being day time it took me around 6 hrs driving time overall.

From Anantapur to Adoni, Road from Gooty is not so great, however few stretches in between are neat.

Thanks for your advice.

We had food in Ghar dhabha on the highway before Anantpur and it was decent. But for that there is nothing unless you go inside towns.

That wont be use to Night hawk, as he drives on NH205 and then on 219. The CCD you mention are on NH4, beyond Palamaner towards Chitoor.

Thanks for the updates.

One more info request.
  • Is Bypass available for major towns enroute viz., Kadiri, Madanapalle, Pungunur, Palamaner.
  • As i understand, one has to drive through Anantapur town on the way to Kadiri and there is no by pass option.
Thanks in advance

I dont know of Kadiri/Madanapalle, but Palamaner has no by-pass. You need to hit the NH4, drive towards the Bangalore side for some distance.
You will see signboard for Krishnagiri towards left.
