Belgaum - Goa " The Chorla Route "

I did this trio exculisvely for this Forum. Many were eager to know the road condition of this less travelled route.
Date:- 13th. August
Route :- Belgaum - Jamboti - Kankumbi - Surla - Chorla - Sanquelim.

Is there any good road directly from belgaum to goa other than amboli route?

Thanks for sequencing the pictures rightly!!From excellent to bad to worse!!!No Chorla for my poor sedan

The waterfall is spectacular,words cant do justice to that!.

But seeing the condition of the roads,I dont think many people would be in a state of mind to enjoy the sights on the sides,they would have their hearts in their mouths seeing the off-roading territory!

OMG,

You car must have taken a beating! Suggest you a underbody wash to remove all the muck.

On the other hand, the road seems ideal for off-roaders.

I had the (mis)fortune of taking this route last november after missing the Amboli route from Belgaum. The road surface from Ramnagar to Jamboty was uneven but there was a dense tree canupy as we approached Jamboty. The drive from Jamboty to Chorla took us close to 3 hours. But the breathtaking views of the green hills once we climb to the top and the view of the dam(not sure of the name) blew us away. It was so beautiful, we forgot our tiredness and were instantly revived.

My Son Armaan was my Navigator.

I have traveled on the Chorla Ghat route way back in 2003 and must say nothing has changed since then. The craters look a lot more advance both in terms of width and depth. I was driving my humble Alto back then and it was a hell of a ride.

Tilari ghat route maybe... What say Sahir?. I see you enjoyed the chorla route my friend. Great pics. I love the waterfall!

@mac187 Sahir's car is quite used to this. These are his roads after all.

Man how I remember every corner and detail of this road. Thanks for the pictures Shahir.

I did this route for the heck of it in 2004 in the Classic during the peak of monsoons. Nothings changed in 7 years. WOW!!

Shahir does the Kadamba Transport Corporation Bus still take this route? And is that awesome vada pav stall in the middle of nowhere still around? The vada pav's there were heavenly.

Yes, there is still a bus service active on this route. The tea stall is operative too.

@ Shahir, Thanks for sharing. I will be driving to Goa on 27th of this month. Looking at the state of road, I would rather stick to my usual route i.e. via Amboli Ghat!!

I think that is the only route with 'better' road.

Shahir how long did it take to complete this route?

I might be driving down to Goa next week. And I am thinking just for those views (my wife has not seen this route yet) will take this up.

I am prepared for it - Bolero.

do you know anything about belgaum-chandagad-isapur-donamarg-bhicholim route?
My map shows that route but never heard anything about same.

WHAT A ROAD?? Been to Goa many times but never been there. Will try it soon. Is there any way down to the waterfall above/below?
