Hi,

I am planning to go to Sabarimala in this month. I plan to return from Trivandrum to Srirangam and Tirumala.

Please give me the route from Trivandrum to Srirangam, Srirangam to Tirupathi and Srirangam-Tiruvannamalai-Tirupathi. Excluding Madurai is preferable.

Trivandrum to Srirangam is a straightfoward route via Nagercoil, Tirunelveli, Madurai, Viralimalai & Trichy.

From SRirangam, you can to Tiruvannamalai and Tirupati as follows:

Srirangam-Perambalur-Ulundurpet-Madapattu (where the road to Panruti turns off)-Tirukovillur-Tiruvannamalai-Vellore-Chittoor-Tirupati

Is there any route which bypasses Madurai?

Also, please let me know the distance from Trivandrum to Srirangam, the NH/SH numbers etc.

You take NH47 out of Trivandrum to Nagercoil, and from there the Tirunelveli road. The road after 18 kms is NH7. After crossing Tirumangalam (bypass) you will come to a T Junction where the right side points to Trichy (straight continues as NH7 towards Dindigul). Madurai is totally bypassed. You will go via Viralimalai to Trichy and from there be on NH45 to Srirangam. which is on the outskirts of Trichy towards Madras.

From Sabarimala, you can go on the following route direct to Srirangam:
Sabarimala (Pamba)-Kanjirapalli-Kuttikanam-Kumili-Kambam-Theni-Periakulam-Dindigul-Manaparai-Trichy-Srirangam.
Expect journey time of 6-8 hours.

There will be lots of traffic on this route once the Sabarimala season starts because many TN pilgrims come this way from both Madurai/Trichy side.

Can you please tell me how to go to Tiruvannamalai from Srirangam, Tiruvannamalai to Tirupathi, distance, important landmarks, road conditions etc.

Easier option would be to :

- Drive on GST (NH45) from Trichy all the way up to Villupuram
- On the Villupuram by-pass you should see NH234 which should say Thiruvannamalai

Thiruvannamalai to Tirupathi:

- Ask any one at Tiruvannamalai for Porur which would then take you to Vellore.
- Go through the GQ into Vellore town and ask anyone for Katpadi. This SH would then extend and take you to NH4.
- This SH joins NH4 before Chitoor
- Ask any one Chitoor to Tirupathi and you would be guided to NH18 (towards Cuddapa/Hyderabad).
- Tirupathi exit (via Chandragiri) is very well marked in the road. Its about 15-20km beyond Chitoor.
