I intend to reach panchkula but my car has low GC so in 2 minds as to what route to take from Gurgaon.
Driven in this stretch till and Shimla and then to Manali.
Get off the NH44 to take NH444A at Shahbad.
Few patches here and there are nothing to worry. Regular maintenance work and you happily drive via Panchkula -Pinjore byass- Parvanoo bypass and entering HP.
This stretch of HP is bad as 4 laning is going around Solan and Khandaghat.

Happy driving.

Re: Delhi - Chandigarh : Route Queries

Is it a good route from Gurgaon to Chandigarh?

Are breakfast options available on this route?

Re: Delhi - Chandigarh : Route Queries

Yes, except for a patch of around 50 Kms before Ambala where 6 lane work is in progress. (Multiple diversions)

Not many good joints for food. One new Haveli was almost ready last time ( a month or so) before Ambala. Otherwise, target Haldiram near Derrabassi. One of better places on this route.

Re: Delhi - Chandigarh : Route Queries

Gurgaon- WPE via UER 2 (344M)

I returned from Chandigarh this morning and took the Google-suggested shortest route via Ambala-152 D—NE 5—Bhadurgarh—Najafgarh-UER2—Gurgaon.

Once we exit on WPE from NE 5, we can take the Bhadurgarh bypass and around 10 Km mark, there is a new ramp on the left that will take us directly to the Airport/ Dwarka/ Gurgaon, with clear signage. This is a new road and connects to UER 2 at Najafgarh. Bhadurgarh to Najafgarh is now a breeze, less than 10 minutes. However, one of the bridges is incomplete, and one has to go through a small road for 2-3 Km before getting on to UER 2. This stretch of Najafgarh to Dwarka is completely ready, and it took me around 40 minutes to reach home in Gurgaon from WPE as against at least an hour or more via Badli/ Manesar.

Re: Delhi - Chandigarh : Route Queries

I was in Chandigarh a few days ago and had to attend a meeting in Bahadurgarh. Using the new roads via Ambala-152 D—NE 5 (Delhi -Katra expressway), I was able to cover the distance in 3.5 hours (non-stop) till Bahadurgarh.

There is some flaw in the Toll collection system at KMP expressway, a mere 9 km distance results in deduction of Rs.265/- from Fastag, which is probably for the entire 135 km from Kundli to Palwal.

They don't have the boom barriers operational at the entry point, thus, one tends to cross the toll plaza without stopping. I think someone has posted a video on Youtube as well, highlighting the malpractice used by the Toll operator/ concessionaire agency.

This is not a flaw but an organized loot.

I saw a video of the same a couple of days ago.
