Hello BHPians,

Need some help in finalizing the route for MP trip with family during November 2013. Below is a tentative plan. I would go for hotel booking only after the plan is finalized.

Day 1 :
Kolkata -> Varanasi
NH2 all along

Day 2: Varansi -> Khajuraho
Mirzapur - Maunganj - Rewa - Satna - Nagod - Panna - Khajuraho
Through NH7

Day 3: Khajuraho
Temple visit

Day 4 : Khajuraho -> Bandhavgarh
Panna - Nagod - Uchahera ( bypassing Satna) - Maihar - Barhi - Damoy - Tala

Day 5 : Tala

Day 6 : Tala -> Amarkantak
Umaria - Shahdol - Anuupur - Amarkantak

Day 7: Amarkantak

Day 8: Amarkantak -> Sambalpur
Bilaspur - Seorinarayan - Bhatgaon - Sarangarh - Saraipali - NH6 - sambalpur

Day 9 : Sambalpur -> Kolkata
NH6 all along

My doubts are as follows :
1. Heard of very bad roads in MP in the past. What's the condition of NH6 from Sambalpur to Kharagpur?

2. Will it be better to plan for the return journey also through Varanasi?

3. What's the best route for Khajuraho to Tala ?

Bilaspur - Seorinarayan - Bhatgaon - Sarangarh - Saraipali - NH6 - sambalpur

I am planning for a trip Bangalore - Puri - Bilaspur - Nagpur - Bangalore

Was thinking if it is really a good idea to do Puri - Bilaspur using this route.

Would you kindly elaborate more like your journey period etc. Also Bilaspur does not fall in the route of Puri-Nagpur, so I assume you need to go to Bilaspur, CG for personal reasons.

Presently road connections to Bilaspur is cut-off due to heavy rains in Chattisgarh.

Thanks for response , I will be travelling between 25th Sept to 5th Oct.

Yes Bilaspur is due to personal reasons.

As of now the broad plan is

Leg 1 : Bangalore , Vijaywada , Vizag , Puri ( Stay in Puri for couple 1/2 days)

Leg 2 : Puri - Sambhalpur

Leg 3 : Sambhalpur - Bilaspur

Stay in Bilaspur

Return
Bilaspur - Nagpur - Hydrabad - Bangalore.

During the return journey you will do Bilaspur-Raipur-Nagpur. There is absolutely no problem with this route except that you need to cross a industrial area before reaching Raipur, that has some heavy truck traffic. From Raipur to Nagpur it is excellent four lane highway.

During your onward journey to Bilaspur, if you're starting from Sambalpur, I would suggest go via Raipur. I'll get back to you about the Sambalpur-Saraipali-Seorinarayan-Bilaspur route in a couple of days.
