Unexplored Hill stations in South India

Hi All,

I am planning for a 4 day tour from Bangalore in the month of May 2015 and the place that I am looking for should be a cooler one for resting (and not a beach sort of location). Being an avid traveler I have covered many places and am now looking for some unexplored spots.

Hence need suggestions from the travelers in Teambhp.

Places like Sakleshpur, Chikmagalur, Western ghats, Madikeri, Bandipur, Nagarhole, Kasargod, Wayanad, Valparai would be least preferred, since I have been there many times.

Thanks,
Anup C

How about these options:

1. Yelagiri
2. Yercaud
3. Kotagiri
4. Top Slip
5. Berijam Lake
6. Kolli Hills
7. Vagamon
8. Ponmudi/Bonacud
9. Eravikulam
10. Meghamalai

Thanks aargee and //M.
Will check meghamalai and 4-10.

I see these are mostly around Munnar/ Idukki and that means now I will need help in scouting for the homestays around these places. I am not at luxury hotels, rather homestay within estates will be good.

If you are looking at Munnar, you can check "TeamBHP - Kochi Drive" thread in shifting gears section. We drove to Munnar twice and stayed at "Aruvi resorts" and "Union Cardamon hill resort". Reasonable rates and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Do check that thread for pictures and details.

Keep Yelagiri for a one day visit only. Not much to do. The other place is Kolli hills. Again quite far from Bangalore and similar to Yelagiri.

Estate Bumngalows in Tea/Coffee plantations are a major draw these days. Especially when you can get far from the madding crowd! I would always prefer Valparai to Munnar. Been to Waterfall more than once, and really like long walks in their property.

Meghamalai is another nice option worth exploring. Especially in winters.
