I do Hyderabad Goa twice every year since i moved to Hyderabad in 2020. And since 2022 i have been using this route via Tilari ghats.

Quoting it again for the benefit of others. This is only if you going to North Goa. I do this route in 10/11 hours.

I can’t get Google to set this route, it always reroutes via Amboli. Can you please share your route’s GMap screenshot?

Anyway, I’m planning to go to Goa in March and thinking of halting for one night in Amboli. With family. Can explore a bit of Amboli the next day before heading to Goa.

Any suggestions for good hotel for overnight stay in Amboli?

Currently the tilari ghat is marked as closed on google maps.

Hence GMaps is not showing the route through it.

Sure will do that from my phone.

But as i said before, Tilari is closed as of now till May so you will have to take Amboli if you going this month.

Planning to go to Ashweb (North Goa) from Hyderabad in second half of May. I have done the Solapur route and the roads were pretty bad. Specially the extremely bumpy right lanes of the 4-6 lane highways weger speed has to be kept high - it is bone jarring. Also, the traffic was dence and hence, unruly.

The Other route I tried was through Jadcherla, Raichur bypass, Hubbali. This route is better, except around 60 KM is huge potholes and speed hump surprises near Raichur. This was a night drive and relatively peaceful.

For comming May, which route would you suggest for a day drive?

Update:

Naldurg bypass road is almost done and opened for traffic.
I drove through it this Sunday (yesterday). 90% work done and much convenient now to cross Naldurg.

Also Tilari Ghat is closed since last week for repair work until further notice. So take Amboli route till that time.

UPDATE:

Guys Tilari Ghat is complete so can start using it.

I am planning to do a quick trip in May. Is this the best route as of now? How is the traffic on this route once we exit Gadhinlaj? Google Maps is suggesting via Amboli.

As per me, it still remains the best route from Hyderabad.

After Gandhinlaj you will be surprised to see the roads. Excellent tarmac, i drive my XUV like a Ferrari lol:
No traffic except few usual village crowd.

Tilari is little steep drive so if you are not comfortable driving in hilly roads then can opt for Amboli.

I love Tilari as i lived all my life driving in Himachal and Uttarakhand hence comfortable with any kind of hilly roads.

I would really appreciate if you could share the exact google map route link. Thanks in advance.

I went to Goa and back in March and Amboli route was good enough for me. Amboli to Mapusa is a little beaten track with some ongoing construction and undivided single road but that’s about 40-50 kilometres. While going, I stayed in Amboli overnight but it wasn’t really needed because we reached there comfortably at around 3 PM, started at 5 AM with breakfast and lunch stops. While returning, did a direct South Goa to Hyd on same route. Started at 5:30 AM, reached Hyd at 6:30 PM with ample breakfast, lunch and snack stops.

Cavelossim > Mapusa > Amboli > Ajara > Gadhinglaj > Chikodi > Miraj > Sangola > Solapur > Hyderabad

Very good empty roads except for that rough 40-50 km from Mapusa to Amboli. One thing that helped kids was flatbed(non-inflatable)on the back seat. My wife and I drove comfortably in Verna.

Here you go.
Its from Solapur.

Hello All,
I am planning to head to Betalbatim (southern part of Goa) from Hyderabad with my family.
The default route from google is
HYD- Zaheerabad -Solapur (All via NH 65) - Miraj (NH 166) - Sankeshwar (NH 160)- Amboli Ghat (NH 548H)- Banda- Panjim- Betalbatim (All NH 66). Approx 732KM with an estimate travel time of 13 to 14 hours.
While this route puts me on the National highways, I was wondering if anyone has any insights as to whether it would be better to detour from Miraj to Belgaum and pass the Chorla ghat or Anmod ghat. The distance is about the same 732 to 735 Km.
Which is the better ghat road at the moment. Amboli, Chorla or Anmod? Which route has better road and traffic conditions? Any insights would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

I went through Amboli ghat route in March. Amboli ghats are good, some construction going on but it’s fine. After ghats, stretch of 30-40 kms till Mapusa is one way with construction and detours. No problem if you cross in daylight. I did this route in 13 hours which includes 1.5 hr break for food, fuel and stretch.

Is it better to stop at Solapur or Belgaum when going from Hyderabad to Goa? I’ve done this route straight through in the past with my two kids, but it is tiring.

Hyd to Solapur is superb road. You won’t even feel tired. I’d suggest stay overnight in Amboli. Very cool place. We stayed in Amboli but I thought it wasn’t needed because the overall road was good.
