I think it is on Sep 12th Monday. So better watch out for things very closely on Monday/Tuesday before making any travel plans.
EDIT: Just read news that It seems on Sept 15th, there is a Rail Roko planned between 6 am to 6 pm. So even if anyone is planning to take trains, please plan accordingly/expect disturbances or delays.

Sep 15th Rail Roko is called by Vattal nagar's pro-kannada organization
Sep 16th - is the date SC has allocated for review of the further hearing related to the release of water. See the last line of the post in the below news link

Not aware of anything on Sep 12, but again, cannot rule out. The bottom line, be careful the whole of this week and next week when commuting b/w KA/TN - Both TN registered as well as KA registered.
Thanks to all this hungamma, many people have shelved their holiday plans for travel by car in this weekend (Bakrid, onam, etc).:Frustrati
I had travelled from Bangalore to Chennai. The roads are good till Sri Perumbudhur, after which it gets bumpy.
One major point to note is that they're installing speed-check cameras at several points which makes a note of your vehicle should you cross 100Kph and you'll have to pay the fine at the next toll station.

Can you mention the places where cameras have been installed and basis of speed limit as 100kmph? Did Chennai Bangalore twice in the last two weeks and could not notice any such thing.
I have on day trip to Thirukazhukundram (outskirts of Chennai) on this Thursday (15th Sep 2016). I need to be there at Thirukazhukundram by 09:30 to 10 AM
I am planning to start at 03:30 AM from Bangalore and reach there by 09:00 to 09:30 AM.
Google suggests the following route.
Bangalore - Krishnagiri - Vellore - Ranipet - Kanchipuram - Chengalpattu - Keerapakam - Thirukazhukundram.
Please do suggest on the route and the time I have to start from Bangalore ( New Thippasandra) to reach Thirukazhukundram by 09:30 AM.
Appreciate your help here.

Given the current situation in KA & TN due to ongoing cauvery water issue, please exercise double caution before you travel.
I suggest, if feasible strongly suggest to rethink on your travel plans or post pone it until things return to normalcy.

Agree Ravi. The situation has developed all of sudden to an unprecedented level since few hours after I posted this. I need to rethink on the plan and I would not want to take undue risks. I do not believe situation would turn to normalcy by Thursday.

The person at the toll booth told me they've started installing from the Chennai side and would be operational within a months's time.
Haven't seen too many updates on road traffic conditions due to escalated tension between Karnataka and TN. I was planning to return from Chennai to Bangalore (KA reg. car) today early morning via Chitoor, Palamner, Kolar but put off travel due to yesterday's situation in Bangalore. I am looking for any updates from people who have travelled between TN and Bangalore on Sunday/ Monday/ Tuesday. Is it ok to start early from Chennai, say around 4 AM, via the Andhra route and go through the city to reach home on Bannerghatta Road (ETA would be around 9-9:30). Would the curfew pose risks to drive through the city? Or is driving during night better? Are there cases of arsonists, agitators laying siege during night causing trouble to motorists? I can stay here for another day but need to get back by 15th. Any tips, updates would be of great help.
Some parts are under curfew = total movement outside banned, except medical emergencies or for today bakrid religious processions with police escort
Other places have sec 144 CrPC = means gatherings of people, especially with weapons, not allowed.
Largely quiet today in Bangalore. However two dates of interest -
Sep 15th Rail Roko called for by Vatal Nagraj
Sep 16th - is the date SC has allocated for review of the further hearing related to the release of water.

If you are comfortable doing overnight journey, that is the best option IMO. Leave Chennai say by 10 PM. Stick to GQ. You should be able to reach Electronic city within 4.5 hrs. Then take the Nice road to BG Road. During odd hours, you will not find protesters. Moreover yours is KA reg car. So no worries if you leave Chennai in the night.

I am comfortable driving overnight and would prefer that too. But family is picking up lot of noise from social media and hence was feeling a bit unsure. Would the Hosur border allow the vehicle to go through at night (been hearing that it is closed with vehicles not being allowed to cross into TN but don't have clear info).

Situation at hosur border is, KA vehicles are not allowed to enter hosur from bangalore side, but its allowed from hosur to bangalore. For TN vehicles its opposite.
Quick update.
Got back to Bangalore from Chennai this morning. Yielding to concerns of near and dear I didn't do overnight but started at 4 AM from Anna Nagar. Took the Ranipet - Palamner - Kolar - KR Puram - ORR route to reach my place on Bannerghatta Road. It was a bit tense driving in TN with KA regn. especially since I couldn't spot a single KA plate all the way until after the Sriperumbudur toll gate and general paranoia makes every stare at the car a potential for trouble (there were a few). At the Sriperumbudur toll gate a policeman looked at the KA plate and asked me to pull over to the side and wait with another parked truck for police escort. It was dark and the way he told this was not confident inspiring. Also, just as I was pulling over I saw another car with KA plate drive off. Quickly decided to ignore the police escort offer and continue driving though this added to the overall nervousness. But didn't face any other issue after this. We were out of TN border and in AP soon. Shortly after we entered AP we started seeing several more KA vehicles and things started feeling normal. After Kolar, approaching KR Puram and ORR felt like BAU in Bangalore with fairly decent traffic all the way home. There were no jams but progress was slow. Anyway it was a great feeling to finally park at home.
Road quality was quite blissful all the way. This route also seemed to have quite a few decent options to stop for snacks/ restrooms.
The curfew has been entirely lifted in Bangalore by the way. Got to see how things go.
As Sangeetha in Chennai Velachery was vandalized yesterday evening as its manager is a Kannadiga, there may be some sporadic violence within Chennai on KA plates so please exercise caution. Leaving chennai early in the morning sounds like a good idea.

TN Police has given escort to one of the KA vehicle coming from Madurai. They even arranged tools to remove KA number plate for safety purpose.
And my relative who came in to Bangalore on Monday for a marriage was not able to get out due to the riots here. Expecting issues, he got his friend's KA registered car and drove from Chennai to Bangalore. No issues while coming. But when tried crossing Attibele on Tuesday, He was sent back by TN police saying it is risky to travel with KA number plate even though he is from Chennai.
Today, again he tried. He was denied. Then, he arranged some old TN number plates thorough a contact, changed the KA plate to TN plate and then crossed the border.
Its really tough time for TN ppl having KA cars, at both the homes (TN and Bangalore).
