Can someone share any recent update on the TN/KA border crossing and driving to TN in KA registered car.
One of my close relative passed away in a accident in TN .Have to attend the condolence with family today somehow.
Looks like the interstate buses are still not commuting between states.

Its pretty much in the flux these days. You can try the Kolar/Chitoor. Bu they are still checking the border

Crossing the border via KA-AP-TN at late hours may be still OK. But am not sure how easy it would be to drive with a KA plate in there. On the whole its not a big issue. But am not sure how the dynamics pan out.

Someone I know had to travel to Madurai due to a similar emergency. His KA car was stopped at 4 places by police daybefore yesterday night / yesterday early morning.

At Hosur / Attibelle border they were not allowing him to drive through. Finally he took some smaller lane and joined the main road ahead (not sure of the details of the same). Other places he was stopped, he was able to talk to the police and explain about the issue and get through.

May be since yesterday it was bandh in TN, they were bit more strict.

However, as Ampere mentioned below. The situation cannot be predicted as such. But then, we are towards end of the official water sharing days. I guess Tuesday is the last day till when water will be released. So hope things to settle down soon.

I doubt it. Tuesday is the last day because the Supreme Court will pass the next order on Tuesday. It is unlikely that the Tuesday's order will satisfy both states simultaneously, so we can expect some flare-ups in either or both states. This time the cops have had ample time to get their act together, though - especially for BCP, who have been panned for allowing things to get out of hand earlier in the week.

Looking at the SC's daily list - it is listed at 2 PM on Tuesday.

Thanks for the update ampere and mpksuhas. after checking multiple options, i had postponed my trip to next week sometime. couldn't take risk now taking 2 small kids along .

I had driven to goa from Chennai last week and the return trip with family was turned upside down thanks to this tension. My wife and little daughter flew out from goa to Chennai earlier this morning. Me and my son drove down from goa to anantpur and will be getting back to Chennai tomorrow via chitoor. I crossed dharwad, Hubli, Bellary on Karnataka on the way and no issues with the TN registration. The toll guy at Hubli told me this is the first TN vehicle he has seen in 8 days. Till crossing into andhra I counted only 2 TN trucks and 1 TN car from the time I left goa.

Just got a forward from a local Tamilnadu newspaper Dinamani that Krishnagiri police is advising the KA vehicles to return as they are not in a position to escort as they have been doing. Also, the reason is non-reciprocal arrangements by Karnataka for TN registration vehicles. This is becoming crazy. I'm in Coimbatore with KA vehicle and it is sort of house confinement. Two trips to Bengaluru cancelled
in last 3 weeks. Regards

That aside , if you are in a real pressing need to get to Bangalore , you can try the Sathy- Dhimbam- chamrajnagara- malvalli-Kanakapura route.

That border will also be blocked as per a report in Bangalore Mirror.

I got back to chennai today. Saw a lot of KA cars on the Chittoor road towards chennai.

Yes there seems to be a problem there and with the Supervisory meeting today and SC hearing of TN petition on 20th, hardly any good news we can expect. Will they revive State Neutral registration numbers for vehicles?

Any further update on traffic movement between Attibele and Hosur. I am planning a travel on this Saturday to Salem and further down south. Please do post if you have any updates.

Just crossed Attibele. I followed very close to the big container truck which had MH registration and KA police did not notice my car at all. So i'm not sure whether they started allowing KA vehicles towards TN side. But once i entered TN side, TN police didn't allow me as expected and asked to return. Then i explained that my home is in Hosur, for which they asked to show address proof :) Once i showed, they let me go.

Couriers are held up in Chennai for delivery to Bangalore - I approached professional couriers to send something and they said that they normally send letters to bangalore by truck, and as TN vehicles were not being allowed into KA, they had suspended delivery to bangalore till the situation resolves itself.

Is there any other courier company / speedpost at the post office which is going through? Or I will need to travel to bangalore just to hand this document over.

Try speed post , you got option to track it online like courier. Also, I guess speed post between Bangalore and Chennai is moved through train and not road. So you will not be facing issue.

I received a promotional letter from HDFC credit card with sender address in Chennai few days back, so posts are coming.
