HI,

I have to travel with my Father, from NCR to Varanasi in coming week and need an advise on the route to be taken.

Google Maps are showing two routes:

1) Via YEW - ALE - Rai Bareilly (14 hrs. 1 mins & 863 Kms)
3) Via NH2 - Agra - Kanpur (14 hrs. 36 mins & 820 Kms)

My Dilema:

- Has to complete return journey in ideally 3 days or max 4 days
- Dad is 65+ and has just recovered from Lower Back Pain
- I can start from either Gurugram or Ghaziabad
- I can break journey at Allahabad while going to Varanasi
- I have done Delhi - Lucknow by road multiple times in last few months and roads are excellent, but not sure about Lucknow - Varanasi stretch (specially post monsoons)

Your first option is the best route. Take the RaiBareily - Allahabad bypass route. It is undivided 2-lane road but is in good shape and is pretty comfortable.
You won't need to break the journey at Allahabad as Varanasi is just 2 hours from there given the new roads constructed.
