hi guys, planning a road trip to Nashik from Ahmedabad. Read from several members' posts that the road from Saputara is in a terrible condition (2019 update). Are the roads better now? Or is there an alternative route? Is the Vapi route good? If there are some suggestions on stay options for family in Nashik, that will be great.

Saputara is in excellent condition. I drove Aurangabad Nashik Ahmedabad last month.

Thanks for the reply. On google map, i searched for ahmedabad nashik route. It showed the route recommend by you. But there are these orange stretches after saputara. Are they manageable?

Road is good throughout. The orange stretches only mean traffic is slow moving and that is all and nothing to do with the road conditions. This could be because of tourists because Saputara is a popular tourist spot. If road condition is your worry, let me tell you that its absolutely good.

My friend did Ahmedabad - Nashik in late August and can confirm that roads are good. He did it in 8-30 hours in his Fortuner.

I had started from Aurangabad sharp at 0500 and I was at Chikhli Junction on Mumbai Ahmedabad highway at 10:30am. This is 5h50 minutes.

I had to take a 3 hour break inside Vadodara meeting friends and then continued my journey and reached Ahmedabad at 6:30pm. If I have to discount those 3 hours spent at Vadodara, that is 10.5 hours for Aurangabad to Ahmedabad via Nashik-Saputara.

As per my logs, I would have crossed Nashik around 7:30am. So ideally it took me 8 hours for Nashik-Ahmedabad too.

As I have mentioned umpteen times, the time taken to cover distances on Ahmedabad to Mumbai or reverse is more or less same for an Alto to a Ferrari due to many reasons mentioned in the past.

I am planning a trip from Ahmedabad to Trimbak and back. What is the better route?

a) Ahmedabad - Saputara - Nasik - Trimbak
b) Ahmedabad - Charoti Naka - Jawhar - Trimbak

If anyone has experiences to share for the Charoti route, please let me know. Thanks!
