Places to visit in & near Shimla

Hello Guys!

I happen to be going to Shimla in April, but when googling on places to visit, most of the places just are snow related, and April is not the snowy season. In such a situation, what all are the places which can be visited. I would prefer places that can be visited in a day since I need to reach Shimla by the end of the night. I am confused as to wear I can go, so suggestions would be very welcome.
