Hyderabad to Udipi/Mangalore

Hi Friends,

Planning a drive from Hyderabad to Udipi around mid-July. Have the following questions:

1. Is this stretch doable in a single day if we start early?
2. Google is suggesting to divert from Anatapur and take Kalyanadurg/Chitradurg route. Is this correct or are there any better alternatives?

Firstly you may want to double check on the monsoon condition. I hear its heavy!
As regards to route:

I would suggest: Hyd-Raichur-Hospet-Chitradurga-Shimoga-Agumbe-Udupi.

In case you want to break, Shimoga is a good place.

The Raichur - Shimoga - Udupi route is what i prefer. Attempt single day drive only if there is a co-driver accompanying you. Its about 15hrs drive. I suggest you halt at Chitradurga for a night. Please keep in mind the monsoons and a weather forecast might help in planning your drive.

Did Hyderabad(Malkajgiri) - Udupi on December 15. 4am start and 5pm arrival - Paradise Isle Beach resort(recommended). Total 13 hrs ~800kms.

Route: Hyderabad-Kalyandurg-Shivamogga-Hebri-Bramavara-Malpe

Road works happening in and around Udupi in all directions. Agumbe ghat was a descend only so became less challenging. Ascent would definitely be more challenging if returning from Udupi.
Till Kalyandurg, road is good. There on, mostly slimmer roads even when on National Highway's and moderate traffic. Picked Kalyandurg route to avoid Bellary and to have proper breakfast. Kalyandurg to Dodderi is through proper villages with very few bad patches.

Breaks at Blue Moon Hampi(excellent pongal), Amerca Veg (excellent meals) and Shri Ganesh Grand (Coffee, Snacks - recommended too)
