Thanks ampere! You read by mind :) I was about to ask landmark for perundurai exit since I missed the avinashi
exit few months back and now see your post with the required information.

No issues! The Perundurai exit marking comes a good km or two before the actual exit arrives. So you get good time to slow down get off the GQ.
Even Kangeyam road is easy. 3-4 years it was horrible thanks to the railway over bridge construction.

@arun - you can plan to stop for breakfast at Annalakshmi which is very close to the Perundurai exit on NH47 discussed here

Remembered the railway bridge construction from an earlier trip to Palani back in 2006, the columns for the bridge were just completed but the place was a bottleneck even then.

@Arun, Do note that to go to the hotel you should not get into the town directly. But instead you should bypass towards CBE and you would find
Annalakshmi on the bypass after the second exit to your left. Aryas would be on your right.

And yes after taking your break there is a way by which you can get to Perundurai and latch on to Kangeyam road.

Guys, which is the best route to take while travelling from Kochi to Palani? According to google maps, it is the Kochi-Thrissur-Vadankkencherry-Pollachi-Udumalaipettai-Palani route. Any information about the road condition in the above mentioned route will be very helpful.

Take the Shoranur road from Trissur, then come via Wadakancherry to Chelakara to Alathur (where you intersect NH47), then Kollengode & Meenakshipuram to Pollachi.

Other choice of route is to go till Palakkad (via Ottapalam) & take the Palakkad-Pollachi highway. All roads are fine.

Do not take NH47 to Vadakanchery - because Kuthiran Ghat is always in rough condition, if not bad).

Once you get to Pollachi, roads are fine, except that traffic can be very high.

If you are looking for an exciting route to go to Palani, take the Trissur-Chalakudy-Athirapalli-Valparai-Udumalaipet route :D

Planning this week end with family to Palani from my native Krishnagiri. I am very much comfortable with NH 7. I am planning to take a diversion from Vedasandur. How is the road condition after Vedasandur till Palani? Any one has travelled in this route, kindly let me know.

Any one has idea about the road condition between Aravakurichi and Dharapuram? I am planning to take this route to Dharapuram from Bangalore, hence thought of checking here.

Also, I would like to know the condition of Dharapuram-Oddanchatram-Dindigal.

The road from Dharapuram to Oddanchatram is decent. Though most of the distance is just 2 lane road, the traffic is sparce and hence you could do an average of 60kmph easily (I usually travel this route either around 8 to 10AM or around 3 to 4PM and find the road to be free these times). The roads though smooth have undulations in many stretches and may result in some roll at high speeds in cars with soft suspension.

The road from Oddanchatram to Dindigal is also a two lane road and in good condition. However, the traffic is heavy on this road and expect unruly driving (unsafe overtaking) from many vehicles - especially buses and LCVs.

You can do that or even exit at Karur and the SH all the way. As per what I have heard, its a pretty decent and wide road. Good to confirm with others too.

Can anyone confirm the status of the Karur exit towards Dharapuram and Pollachi? Is it in good shape?

If you are heading to Pollachi, NH47 is shorter. Any reasons why you want to do Karur-Dharapuram-Pollachi?

Perfect. Yes I think you should use this route. I dont know the latest on this. But I believe this would a very good stretch. No reasons to believe it to be bad. Instead of exiting Karur, you can also exit at Arvakurichi and then join the Karur-Dharapuram road. You get to use the 4-lane longer.
